provided plenty of insight into why there’s so much intrigue around his overall skill set. Many of those flashes came applying pressure at the rim and attacking from the perimeter with growing creativity off the dribble while also leveraging his size and strength to absorb contact on his way to the lane, and showing increased confidence and efficiency as a perimeter shooter. Kuminga also stood out on the defensive end, blocking shots against the glass, disrupting passing lanes, and applying steady pressure on opposing ball handlers at the point of attack.

offered a lot of strong insights to the intrigue that surrounds his overall skillset. A lot of those flashes consisted of Kuminga pushing the break himself off a rebound and putting pressure on the rim, attacking driving angles out of his perimeter face up game with improving creativity in his handle, maintaining good court vision to make impressive skip passes all while also leveraging his size and strength to win battles on the boards.

put together an impressive year one that supported much of that intrigue that has surrounded him for quite some time now. One of the class’s most physically and athletically gifted wings, Kuminga showed more consistent flashes of being a two way impact player— attacking driving angles with fearless aggression and finishing strongly with either hand at the basket, countering his slashing ability showing long term promise as a perimeter threat, being a viable option as a lane runner in transition for explosive above the rim finishes all while taking noticeable strides as a ball handler, exuding a stronger and more confident handle and improved feel as a passer. Defensively, Kuminga’s length and athleticism stood out through a number of highlight worthy stops— pinning shots against the glass, being disruptive in the passing lanes and deflecting passes, and consistently disrupts opposing ball handlers at the point of attack. With rare physical tools, there are few prospects in his national class that can reach the heights that Kuminga can if he’s able to fully put it together.

Arguably the top freshman in the state, Kuminga was held almost entirely in check for the first half before putting the team on his back in the second to nearly pull off the upset in comeback fashion. Kuminga scored 25 of his 27 points after halftime, getting into a rhythm as a shooter with five 3s while showcasing a smooth and consistent high release. He was active and engaged on the other end as well, using his strength and mobility to guard his yard and make plays to ignite the Celtics’ transition attack. While he bites off a bit more than he can chew right now at times, Kuminga also showed a promising foundation as a ballhandler and passer for this stage in his development. When his motor is running like it was on Thursday, there aren’t many freshman wings nationally who can contend with him.

immediately pops with his high level athleticism and nonstop aggressiveness. Kuminga’s performance Sunday evening highlighted his ability to be a strong and explosive wing with a quick first step— attacking closeouts and establishing himself as a constant downhill threat, showcasing the ability to finish through traffic and absorb contact at the rim. Kuminga’s athleticism was also on full display with a number of above the rim finishes, particularly as a lob threat in transition.

‘s eye catching athleticism and relentless motor stand out right away in the different ways he leverages those physical tools to impact the game on both ends of the floor, all while showing strides in the development of his ball skills. A powerful wing with a quick first step, Kuminga consistently establishes himself as a downhill attacking threat, highlighting his ability to finish in traffic and through contact. Complementing his aggressive slashing, Kuminga is a threat from the perimeter, capable of knocking down spot up threes. On the defensive is where Kuminga’s athleticism gets put on full display— using his athleticism and length to pin shots against the glass and generate deflections. With many physical boxes already checked, the younger Kuminga brother is a prospect worth monitoring as he continues to refine his overall skill set.

used much of those physical tools to impact the game on both ends of the floor while also flashing some of his ascending ball skills. A physically imposing wing who has no issue with contact, Kuminga got to the basket on a number of physical dribble drives showcasing his ability to finish strong with either hand at the rim. To counter his aggressive slashing ability, Kuminga was also effective from the perimeter as he knocked down a number of threes off the catch, flashing his intrigue as a spot up shooter. As physically superior as he is at the varsity level already, it can be easy to forget that Kuminga is just a freshman. He impressed with two-way contributions throughout a tight TPS win over St. Peter’s Prep, standing out particularly with his blend of skill, explosiveness, and physicality while attacking the rim off the bounce. Kuminga also flashed his touch while knocking down a smooth 3 from above the break. With the game in the balance, he also showed his ability to impact the defensive end with a handful of key deflections and blocks in the closing minutes to help seal the win. It’s still early, but the Congolese wing figures to be among the state’s more highly-touted prospects in his class over the years to come.

Despite being just a freshman, Kuminga was among the most physically and athletically advanced prospects in the gym. He used his natural gifts to great effect, attacking the rim relentlessly for a handful of violent finishes above the rim. The younger brother of the Golden State Warriors wing of the same surname, Kuminga also flashed a promising foundation as a ballhandler and shotmaker that will be key to build on over time if he’s to maintain his early reputation nationally among the top wings in his class.
