Another standout junior from the Hurricanes’ first-round win is Dreyton. Jackson had as pure a Point Guard line as you will see: 14 points, 11 assists, and 4 steals. However, when you watched the game and factor in the situation, what he did was almost more impressive. Dreyton ran the Wren offense to near perfection, getting them through all their sets and capitalizing on holes in the opposing zone, all while minimizing turnovers and bad shots. Jackson isn’t just a passer, though, he is also quite capable of hitting floaters and mid-range jumpers around bodies. Wren will have to go on the road again in the second round, but they will have the guard advantage if Dreyton is able to match this performance with another big night on Saturday.

Mr. Consistent, he efficiently puts the ball in the basket like the best of them. A small guard who scores in bunches, he reads defenses well, understands how to relocate and get open, and finishes around the rim in a variety of ways. He can also stretch the floor with his three-point shot, making him a versatile offensive threat.

Dreyon helped the Hoopzters win Myrtle Beach Live II this past weekend. Jackson really likes to finish on the left-side of the basket on drives. Dreyton did that several times with us in attendance here at Big Shots Myrtle Beach Live. He made some crafty passes to open teammates for good looks. Dreyton has the ability to knockdown open shots when called upon.

had a terrific performance for Hoopzters, earning him a spot in our Top Guards list from the 2024 Carolina Live. Jackson holds all the qualities you want in a Point Guard: he is lightweight quick, has a great handle, makes good reads, and can finish around or through bodies in the paint. He keeps the offense flowing at all times and has a high usage rate with this squad, balancing scoring and facilitating well. Dreyton had 19 Points and 4 Steals in the overtime game, converting on 2 of his 3 attempts from behind the arc which is a key attribute that he is showing improvement with.

wraps up our list of Breakout Freshman from the 2023-24 Season. He was the Starting Point Guard for the Easley Green Wave and averaged 11.9 Points Per Game, 5.5 Assists Per Game, and 2.5 Steals Per Game on his way to being named All-Region in year one. He is a very composed ball handler who can run various sets on the offensive end. He has great vision and feel for the game but must be respected as a shooter, connecting on 35% of his attempts from behind the arc. Jackson also is a pesky defender with great hands and fast reflexes who is already a Top-10 Point Guard in the state for the Freshman Class.
