A polished scorer who keeps things simple and consistently gets to his preferred areas on the floor. He takes advantage of open space, confidently pulling up when defenders give him room while also attacking the basket with purpose. He does a good job absorbing contact and using his strength to create scoring opportunities before flowing into controlled pull up jumpers. A smooth offensive player with a natural scoring feel and an efficient approach to getting points.

Indiana Elite’s 15u group had a really good run in this event as they made a run to the final four with Drew Cabana being a feature player throughout that special run. Cabana’s ability to make outside shots at a high volume and in different situations really set the table for the rest of his game. Cabana is an excellent movement shooter with deep range and the touch to hit shots when floating in either direction. He’s got the ability to self create as well, showing a ton of comfort in handing the ball in pick and roll actions while making good reads in those situations. Cabana appears to be a premier backcourt prospect in this 2029 class on a national scale and it was great getting our first look at him in Rock Hill this past weekend.

We mentioned Cabana above. He was easily 1 of the best freshmen in Michigan last season, and judging by his performance at Dexter in the summer league, he’s gotten even better. Cabana was able to attack through traffic using both hands and going either direction. He was skilled enough to adjust in the air on his finishes.

Indiana Elite 15 U has been on a tear as their physicality just wears down opponents and allows them to thrive in transition. While Indiana Elite 15 U usually wins off their defense and transition play, Cabana is a high level half-court offensive player. I liked Cabana’s pace on the ball and he’s an elite shooter. With strong positional size from the off guard position, Cabana is a dangerous player to stop off the catch. Michigan’s 2029 class has a lot of talent but Cabana is up near the top of the talent in the state.

Speaking of elite freshman in Michigan. What we said about Bush’s standing in the freshman class – Insert here. He’s a tall and athletic wing that has terrific body control for a young player. Cabana showed a feel for good shot and bad shot last night and attacked when there was space. He was able to score from all 3 levels last night.

– Looks more than high school ready both physically and mentally

Cabana caught my eye with his defense at the showcase. He was a versatile defender that seemed comfortable and effective guarding all over the floor. Cabana showed this with his multiple blocks on the day.

Cabana would be a prime time draw at the Freshmsn Showcase. He can shoot from all levels, not just on the move or off the bounce too. He can actually go right to left or left to right and shoot in motion. Cabana has a quick crossover and a jitterbug move that will shake defenders.

Cabana can definitely fill it up. Probably the most impressive thing about his jumper was his ability to hit it from anywhere on the floor, mid range to beyond the arc.

Cabana has a chance to be an elite defender. The size, strength and mobility are all there. He can defend effectively basically anywhere on the floor.
