DJ was one of the best ball handlers that I had the opportunity to watch. Kept the ball on a string, using his speed to get to the basket, at will, where he did an excellent job of using his off arm to create space and finish through traffic. Quick, pesky defender that gave the other team fits resulting in multiple steals in the process.

DJ helped lead ABP Athletics past Elite Legacy on Sunday morning in a Wisconsin vs Wisconsin matchup. The 5’10 guard is lighting quick, and was playing scrappy defense all game long. He was matched up with a bigger guard who was looking to post up on DJ, but he did a great job of holding his ground and forcing some tough shots out of his matchup. Offensively he was able to beat his initial defender off the dribble to get into dangerous areas, and from there was able to locate an open teammate. True point guard who can impact a game without having to score much.

An absolute bulldog defender, Hennings makes it more than difficult for opposing point guards to set up the offense for their clubs thanks to his intense on-ball pressure. He had a few steals, including a game-clincher in the closing minute, to help ABP Athletics record a 69-61 victory over Sanford White in a 17U contest. He made some clutch baskets late in the game, including a big three-point play, but his true value comes in his pass-first mentality and his stifling defense. A key player for Wauwatosa West’s WIAA Division 2 state-title team, look for Hennings to earn even more playing time for the Trojans next winter.

is one of the shiftiest players I’ve seen all spring. The Tosa West guard has elite quickness and a tight handle that allows him to blow by defenders off the dribble. In the game I watched he was finding success getting to the rim and drawing contact, earning trips to the free throw line for easy points. Good vision to make a last second dump-off pass as well. Defensively he has the quickness to be an absolute pest on the ball, with the toughness to fight over screens.

. Hennings quickness in the open court often triggers the Trojans’ potent transition game as he ranks second on the team in assists with 91. He also has 38 steals in 28 games for coach Chris Newbauer’s squad, which enter the state tournament on a 12-game winning streak. Offensively, Hennings contributes 4.1 ppg and is shooting 71 percent from the foul line for the Trojans.
