Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
A fixture in the ANC lineup since his freshman year, Carter is largely a known commodity with his ability to impact games on the margins using his physical and athletic gifts. He’s a quintessential hybrid forward with standout run-and-jump athleticism and a physical frame that he puts to use on both ends of the floor. Carter shines within ANC’s aggressive, defense-first attack, flying around to haul in rebounds or force turnovers and ignite transition offense the other way. His evolving abilities to space the floor as a perimeter shooter and create for himself off the bounce will be key developments to track both toward ANC’s quest for a league three-peat and his ability to reel in an elusive D1 offer.

Impress with Dior ability to find success in operating down in the post, showing good feel, positioning, and bringing a physical aspect to the floor, but also did a great job in being able to stretch the floor as well. Overall, a good athlete who produces on both ends of the floor. Showed creative handle. Ability to get downhill and make plays for himself and his teammates. Quick leaper and finisher around the basket.

This athletic Swiss Army knife prospect is a true two-way player with a knack for turning defensive stops into points. At UAA Session II, Carter’s ability to grab a steal, rebound or loose ball and then pilot the fast break for buckets or assists was impressive. Working as a hybrid-forward in the half court, Carter excelled at slashing to the cup from the wing as well as the baseline for a catch and lay-in. He also executed well-timed back door cuts and showed he could operate in pick-n-roll action. Carter’s speed, athleticism, instincts and leaping ability were on full display all weekend. On defense, Carter proved he could guard 1 through 4.

Carter is a bit of a tweener made a living on the interior. He plays extremely hard and is always in the right spots to rebound. He was able to score in different ways. He is able to switch and guard multiple positions on defense.

ANC’s 2024-25 squad features a couple high profile, nationally ranked prospects. Thus, it is easy for an athletic Swiss Army knife player such as Carter to fly under the radar. With his athleticism, length and finishing skills, Carter thrives in the open court. In the half court, Carter is comfortable functioning as a primary ball handler, shooting guard or hybrid-forward. When he has the ball, Carter generates offense via straight line drives to the cup for scores or to drop a dime to a teammate. He is an excellent pick-n-roll player too. Off the ball, Carter will score on dives to the cup, backdoor cuts and via the offensive boards. Carter can convert through fouls in all these scenarios.
