With a strong showing in Tulsa at the Pro16 and NXTPro Live Period, there should be little question that offers begin to roll in for Deyton — the only question is from what levels. Lucas is a strong forward with a lean frame who often plays bigger than his actual size. This spring, he’s shown a lot of growth, particularly on the defensive end. He’s capable of holding his own inside against bigger bodies while also blocking shots around the rim with good timing and feel. He’s also versatile enough to defend on the perimeter when needed and can be used as a weapon in ball-screen coverage. Deyton moves well on both ends of the floor and stays active in transition, forcing defenses to locate him at all times. Offensively, he can stretch the floor with his shooting and initiate offense in different actions, especially as a passer. Lucas is a name worth tracking not only this weekend, but throughout the rest of the summer as well.

A long and rangy forward who consistently finds himself around the ball, Lucas looks poised for an exciting and productive spring and summer. Despite Lutheran South having an up-and-down season, Deyton was a clear bright spot, putting together an impressive year. He averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, and over a block per game while shooting an efficient 53% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc.
One of his biggest strengths is his ability to grab a rebound and push the ball end to end. With his size and handle, he creates real problems for opposing defenses in transition. He plays with a good pace and is comfortable initiating offense, whether as a scorer or a passer. When you add in his consistent shooting from long range, along with his ability to play with both strength and finesse around the rim, it’s easy to see why he’s a name that continues to rise.
If he continues on this trajectory and leans into his dynamic, versatile style of play, Lucas should be in line to generate a strong wave of interest and offers this summer. Expect Division II and low-major Division I programs to start making their presence felt.
