Shields caught fire in the one game of Middletown I caught this season, making four of his 16 made 3-pointers for the season in that game alone. He played with a lot of confidence and ended the season on a nice run of games for a young and competitive squad in one of Ohio’s toughest conferences. I liked his size at the wing position and he was athletic enough defensively to stay with guards on the perimeter. Hoping to see a leap as a Junior, Shields also is a standout on the gridiron for the Middies. Also, a high GPA student athlete, Shields should have opportunities to play at the next level in both basketball and football by his senior season.

The GMC contest between Middletown and Hamilton was highly contested and it was the shot-making of Shields off the bench that kept the Middies competitive for a majority of the game. With four 3-pointers, Shields had over half the makes from beyond the arc that his team did in this contest. I also liked some of the athletic traits Shields has, a player to watch over the next few years in the GMC.
