An offensive-minded guard that enjoys that aspect of the game. Not just scoring, but a willingness to pass and setup teammates with a skilled passing package. Loved to push the pace and get the ball up-court to put up big points on a vulnerable back-peddling defense.

Brian showed off a versatile game at 6’3. Defensively he showed he can defend a variety of spots, with the lateral mobility to move his feet with guards, and the length/toughness to hang with taller players in the paint. Had a nice block on an extremely long 6’6 forward in the lane. Offensively he’s a true floor stretcher with a smooth stroke from three. Was unselfish and kept the ball moving, but when the space was there he could put a quick three points on the board.

WHY?
9-9 record. Averaging 10.2 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 4.6 apg. BJ is a PG & floor general, a selfless passer, and a consistent leader. As you can see, he fills up the stat sheet as an excellent rebounder for a PG and he is a volume assist guy. He plays calm & cool and his skills are impressive. I am interested to see if the Packers can keep BJ out of the paint and how his outside jumper looks.

Brian Zarazua was a floor general in his teams contests this weekend. There is no other way to put it. Zarazua, a 6’3 guard, can move between the 1, 2, and 3 spots on the floor currently. His mixture of length and speed are impressive. He shows that he controls the pace and tempo of the game, while getting his team into the right spots, at the right times. A few years ago, guards who played at such an intense personal pace, usually ended up being sped up in big moments, late in games. In todays game, we see guards who have the ball on a string and can be going 1000 MPH, while still slowing the game down from time-to-time. Zarazua falls in that category for me after this weekends action. He really is a coach on the floor, in several different aspects.
