Pippins suited up with Gym Rats Black 17u this weekend at the GRBA Nationals and ended up being a big piece for them throughout their championship run. At this point any conversation about the best offensive rebounders in the state of Indiana has to begin with Pippins. The 6’5″ rising senior forward from Cathedral High School plays extremely hard and is so physical in the paint. It is really hard for opponents to keep him from gathering numbers putbacks on a game-to-game basis. He ended up scoring a team-leading 18 points in their semifinal victory on Sunday. It will be interesting to continue to follow his recruitment heading into the high school season. Scholarship programs at the Division II and NAIA levels should be evaluating him closely.

It has been a very good spring and summer for this rising senior forward from Cathedral High School. He has been a consistent top performer for UNRNKD 17u and that was the case once again on Friday at Augusta Live. Pippins put on a dunking display in the game we watched showing off his athleticism and interior strength that makes him so hard to handle inside.

From a traditional height perspective it is fair to consider to Pippins a bit “undersized.” He is a 6’4″ forward that does his best work in the paint. However, Pippins makes up for some lack of height with athleticism and elite physicality. He will simply bully his way through other big men to get rebounds and elevate to finish at the rim inside. Pippins is one of the best offensive rebounders in the state of Indiana and is coming off of an excellent, highly productive spring with UNRNKD Hoops 17u on the EYCL Circuit.

Pippins continues to dominate around the basket showcasing some special athleticism, physicality, and strength. He can play through a lot of contact and simply whips opponents on the offensive glass consistently. The 6’5″ forward from Cathedral High School was excellent for UNRNKD Hoops 17u in EYCL action in Kansas City. His best performance came on Monday when he finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds to cap off a 3-1 weekend for UNRNKD. Small college programs should be all over him heading into the summer months.

A rising big man that showed some nice things over the weekend was Braylon Pippins Braylon Pippins 6'5" | PF Cathedral | 2027 State IN of Cathedral HS. Pippins was strong in the post up for UNRNKED 17U and just overall was very active around there on both ends of the floor. He is a real solid rim-running big that can be pretty skilled at times for his size. He has put together a nice strong of performances over the course of the last few months.

Pippins is a player I got to see several times throughout the high school season and loved the potential that he showed. This weekend he was a breakout performer showing his ability to use his length and athleticism to be a threat on both ends of the floor. Big time rebounder and shot blocker, he also showed his mobility by switching on the perimeter and containing smaller matchups. Still a bit raw offensively but showed improvement with his footwork and soft touch around the basket. Had several nice post moves into jump hooks over his left shoulder. Also showed his ability as a lob threat. Good hands that can go up and get the ball at its highest points. Plays with a lot of power underneath and should continue to be a tough matchup down low.

When it comes to pure impact in the post, Cathedral junior power forward Braylon Pippins Braylon Pippins 6'5" | PF Cathedral | 2027 State IN will be one of the best in the gym on Saturday evening. For Cathedral, he has been stellar in the paint, serving as their top option when it comes to post play. Throughout the season, he has averaged 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Irish. He is very consistent around the basket, using his strength and size to score through physical contact.

There was not a more dominant big man in the Martinsville gym on Saturday than what Cathedral’s Braylon Pippins Braylon Pippins 6'5" | PF Cathedral | 2027 State IN was for the Irish. He finished with 15 points and was just so consistent around the basket. He was the stead force for Cathedral tonight.

The physical junior forward out of Cathedral has gotten better and better every game I’ve seen him play. He’s an athletic rim running big that plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor and impacts the game without needing to score. He’s a versatile defender that is able to contain smaller players on the perimeter while being a formidable rim protector and rebounder. His physicality and athleticism will be a key part of the Cathedral Fighting Irish advancing in the tournament.
