Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
Known throughout his high school career at Columbus Catholic as a terrific shooter, Weiland took that positive attribute to New Berlin this weekend and made shot after shot from deep for UTC Fire -1 in a narrow loss to Chapman Basketball Academy Gold. Weiland had a game-best 21 points in the contest on the strength of five three-point baskets. The steady and quick backcourt performer also showed the ability to use a ball fake to get around defenders on the perimeter and then score in the lane. Weiland is a key returning player for a very good Columbus Catholic program coming off an Eastern Cloverbelt Conference championship season.

on the bench in street clothes recovering from wrist surgery, Weiland stepped into the limelight for the Dons in Prairie du Chien. He drilled multiple three-point baskets in each outing for the Dons and used his physical strength and shot-hunting ability to break free from defenders to get good looks at the basket. Weiland is the type of player who can get you five or more three-point baskets on any given night. He earned second-team Eastern Cloverbelt Conference honors as a sophomore after averaging 13.7 ppg and making 94 triples in 27 games.
