Sommer is one of the more intriguing players in the state’s 2027 class. He possesses very good size and skill while having the ability to guard either the three or four spots for his team. Sommer is a capable shooter from deep and excels in the paint with his size, strength and footwork. A player WIAC and other Division III schools figure to watch in June and July, Sommer spent a good chunk of the spring playing for Columbus Catholic’s highly successful baseball team as a shortstop and pitcher. He averaged 15.8 points and earned second-team all-league honors while helping the Dons capture the Cloverbelt East Conference title in 2025-26.

A player who seems to add an inch by the month, Sommer is up to 6-foot-5 and has maintained his strength, skill and overall impact on a game. He can rebound, knock down shots, defend in the post and get on the floor for a loose ball. His overall versatility was impressive for Columbus Catholic this summer as he appears to have a couple of big seasons ahead of him for coach Joe Konieczny and the always-tough Dons.

This broad-shouldered young prospect has a very bright future ahead of him as he came off the bench to score 10 big points in a low-scoring, defensive struggled against Assumption. Sommer flashed the ability to score off the bounce from the perimeter, buried a three-point shot, snared some rebounds and also got to the foul line. He played with outstanding poise and can play inside or outside while also defending multiple positions.
