I was a big fan of the way that Burns played in the preseason for Mojave. His speed allows him to create a lot of separation from his defenders and his vertical allows him to float in the air to let the ball go at the right time. Burns speed is also going to help on defense when Mojave wants to apply pressure this year.

is in contention for the fastest player that I’ve seen in the varsity fall league. He didn’t play a ton of minutes because Mojave was giving some other guys looks. But when he was on the court he really hit the gas pedal and had some impressive layups. I’m looking forward to seeing what he does once the real season is underway.

caught my eye with his speed. Burns has the capability to blow by defenders and he hit multiple tough lay ups against the Mustangs. He also used his athleticism on defense and got in passing lanes more than a few times. The other thing I noticed was how he made life tough for the Mustang guards bringing the ball up the court.

Coaches are always looking to evaluate PG’s, especially shifty ones. The lefty is a scoring PG with tremendous speed and quickness. Expect him to fair well in a wide open camp setting.

Burns also took the floor for the Rattlers. The Tempo changing PG fit in perfectly in the Rattlers up Tempo style of play. The lefty had no problem getting his own shot, playing with good speed and quickness.

Perhaps it’s a Legacy thing, but Burns is another Longhorn lefty, capable of taking home MVP honors.
