Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Garris is a versatile wing with good size and length who averaged nearly a double-double for Potomac School. The junior is at his best attacking the rim and playing in transition, where his athleticism and motor allow him to consistently produce. He rebounds at a high rate for his position and brings defensive value with the ability to guard multiple spots. His combination of size, activity, and two-way versatility makes him a prospect for the next level.

Anthony enjoyed a big game on the glass and on the offensive end. Helped Potomac to a big win by bringing a huge force of physicality. Entered the paint with ill intentions on every attempt at the rim. Drew a lot of fouls from his aggression, and came away with a huge amount of both offensive and defensive rebounds. Anthony was rewarded with his play with a nice win and some big plays.

This was my second time seeing Garris play with the Potomac school program in the last month and the combination of size, shooting ability, and skill set are very impressive, and another Class of 2027 prospect that could jump up the ranks over the course of this upcoming season. Garris has enough handle and moves to create shots off the dribble, has nice touch around the basket, makes good reads off the pick and roll as a threat from both outside and in the paint, and has a smooth and accurate shot from the 3-point line with range. Garris can defend the 3 through 5, does a solid job on the glass, provides second-chance points, and has good court vision to make reads from the high post or from the wing finding cutters. Garris is one to keep an eye on over the next two years and is making the most of his opportunities. In 23 minutes of play Garris scored 7 points, 3-4 from the field, 13 (7 def/6 off) rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal.

Garris made an impact on the game in many different facets. He was in good spots on the floor to get rebounds. He is an effective rim protector with great length. He did a nice job running the floor. He chipped in 12 and 9 in a loss to Sallies (DE). I liked his activity on the offensive glass which allowed him to keep possessions going. He was very efficient with his shot selection. He needs to continue to produce and live in the weight room, if so he should see a ton of low major division one programs tracking his foot steps throughout the spring and summer.

Garris is an intriguing, mobile, active, athletic combo forward who had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in a lost to Salesianum (DE). The junior uses his size and athleticism to finish above the rim, rebound at both ends and to change shots in the paint. He has the versatility to play on the perimeter at both ends of the floor and looks like the type of prospect who has his best basketball ahead of him.

A transfer from Clarksburg HS. Long & mobile athlete with touch at the rim, plus he’s flashed floor spacing potential. A high-upside prospect, the Clarksburg product with strength is starting to put it all together. Anthony is a long athlete & smooth scorer. He’s flashed a diverse shot profile, along with plenty of shot-creation versatility.

-First time seeing Garris but he really impressed with his blend of athleticism and activity as a W/F tweener. Garris’ activity and fearless approach shown through on his 5 blocks, most of which were on the ball. Had a beautifully-timed cut from the corner to catch a pocket pass and float well above the rim before crushing a 2-handed dunk. Interested to see how the skill development progresses over the next to years as he figures to be a key part of Potomac’s schemes this season.
