Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Potomac looked to be in midseason form with a new-look lineup in a win over St. Anne’s-Belfield, giving Franklin the opportunity to show his substantial long-term promise in his role off the bench. A long and wiry wing, he thrives as an athletic lane-filler in transition with a clear nose for the rim in the open floor. Franklin also showed encouraging flashes as a creator and shotmaker from the midrange. With brother Miles a budding star at Columbia and Tristan among the fastest-emerging prospects in the state’s 2028 class, Franklin looks like he shouldn’t have any problem stepping up to carry the mantle as the next in line within the family of talented swingmen.

-Franklin’s development is continuing nicely in new threads with Potomac as a smooth shooter that can knock down shots from all 3 levels of the floor for his team. Franklin curled pretty smoothly around screens to knock down turn and shoot jumpers at the elbows, hit two open 3s, and is much more comfortable attacking the glass or taking defenders off the bounce this season. The past season with O’Connell helped him adjust to the speed of the HS game and I continue to come away impressed with Franklin’s ability to assimilate well within any team.

Another rising freshman that impressed during June, Franklin is a versatile wing with positional size who can make perimeter shots and is equally adept at getting to the rim. He has good length and above average athleticism, helping make him an effective finisher in the paint. He is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2030 recruiting class.

11p 8r 1a vs DeMatha (JV)
-The only freshman on an experienced OC JV team that returned all their starters, Franklin has carved out a role as an energy G/W tweener that plays a winning brand of basketball. Franklin hits the glass hard to create extra possessions for his team (5 offensive rebounds in this game), can space the floor with his perimeter shooter, and is able to take on a variety of defensive assignments. The younger brother of current Columbia standout Miles and OC Varsity player, Tristan– he seems destined to follow in their footsteps as a high-IQ G/W tweener with a versatile skillset.
