Adonis Williams Jr

Adonis impressed me earlier this spring and turned in a pair of solid games on Saturday. His length and athleticism make him a very versatile defender, as he has a high motor and plays very hard. He was great when pushing the pace in transition, as he had several full speed finishes at the rim running the floor. Williams also looks like he can be a consistent shooter from deep, knocking down a couple threes off the catch.

I was not super familiar with Adonis’ game headed into the weekend, but it was very evident as to why he is a top ranked 2029 prospect in Minnesota. The 6’3” wing is an exceptional athlete, as he was a difference maker running the floor in transition. He had some nice finishes at full speed and was great on the offensive boards, which led to some putback baskets. Williams’ size and athleticism is very rare for his age, as he will be a prospect to monitor in the state for years to come.

Adonis could end up playing either guard spot down the road, but spent a lot of his time as a scoring threat out on the wing on Saturday. He has a nice feel for the game at an early stage, and changes speed well to beat defenders off the dribble. Uses his length to extend and finish at the rim, or can dump it off at the last second to one of his bigs. Adonis was all over the place coming up with plays defensively, and was going to be the first player to a loose ball if he was even remotely in the area. The highlight of the day was when Adonis outran a player with about a 5 yard head-start for a loose ball, and was then able to zip a pass to a teammate sprinting to the rim for two points.
