When his team needed him most, Maxwell stepped up. In the 17u championship game Sanford Sports went on an early run, and Woods responded by taking the game over for Fury. No one could match his quickness with the ball in his hands, so he was constantly able to get to the rim and finish or draw fouls. Absolutely fearless attacking up against size, and his explosive athleticism allowed him to just hang in the air and finish in impressive fashion. Hit a handful of outside jumpers as well. Started off overtime by splitting two defenders and exploding to the basket for a clutch lay-up. D1 football commit that can absolutely take games over on the hardwood as well.

Maxwell turned in a pair of fantastic performances on Sunday, leading Fury to a third straight Region Final victory. He is one of the fastest players in the state and was blowing by defenders with ease to get inside. He can make acrobatic finishes at the rim or make picture-perfect kick out passes to open teammates. Woods also knocked down some shots from the outside, getting hot in the championship game, scoring 29 points. He’s already committed to play football at North Dakota State, but it would have been interesting to see how much his recruitment would have picked up after this weekend as a basketball player.

is one of the quickest players you’ll find in the state, and with that quickness he was able to create shots for both himself and his teammates at a high level. Came out with a tough make off a crossover into a spin move on his team’s first possession of the game, but struggled to hit his shots the rest of the half. In the second half is when he took over though, knocking down some pull-up threes, and using his quickness to get all the way to the rim for some tough finishes. His ability to get into the paint draws in extra defenders, and with that he was able to dump it off to his bigs or kick it out to open shooters for some key assists late in the game. Is able to elevate off two feet to get up over the defense and contort his body to deliver difficult passes through traffic. Ended the game with 25 points in a tough overtime loss.

Maxwell played the entire game on Wednesday and got better and better as the night went on. The junior guard may be undersized, but more than makes up for it with his lightning quick first step and blow-by ability. No one could stay in front of him, as he attacked the basket with ease. When he gets there, he can hang in the air and contort his body to make an acrobatic finish or to kick out to a teammate for an open look. He is also a phenomenal shooter, as he knocked down several three-pointers off the dribble, sometimes on the run and fading. Woods is a star on the football field as well, as he is one of the best dual-sport athletes in Minnesota.

is coming off a football season where he was named 2nd Team All-Metro by the Star Tribune. It would be understandable if he needed a few games to find his basketball legs. Versus Holy Family opening night the five-foot-eleven-inch point guard from Chanhassen dropped a massive 40 point, six 3-point performance along with 2 blocks. Not deterred by the twin six-foot-ten-inch center’s for Holy Family, Woods used his speed and quickness advantage to get to the rim like making jump cuts behind offensive lineman.
