These players gained valuable experience during the playoffs. All it takes is a breakout Senior season and some these players could find themselves on a roster at the next level. DII, DIII or Juco.
Mykola Ediger 6’2 Guard, Half Moon Bay HS (Half Moon Bay CA)
Ediger was the MVP of the North Division PAL. He was the leader of a HMB team that went 12-0 in league, (20-7) overall, and a North Division Title. The long armed player is one of the most versatile players in the County. He was the leading scorer in points and assists on his team. He plays with good balance, and under control most of the time. He’s a player that can score multiple ways, and looks to take the big shot when the game is on the line. His season high was 28 pts.
Ben McKnight 6’4 Wing, Half Moon Bay HS (Half Moon Bay CA)
McKnight was a key contributor to HMB’s success this season. A first team all league selection, McKnight was a steady performer all season. A good size player at 6’4 he moves well without the ball, and works hard on both ends of the court rebounding and defending. He was the 2nd leading scorer and a top rebounder. He has a good shot within 15ft of the basket, and grabbed a lot of 2nd chance points off the rebound.
Dimitri Koutsogeorgas 5’8 Point Guard, Serra HS (San Mateo CA)
A tough physical player for his size. A tenacious defender who comes to play every game in the tough WCAL. He’s a good instinctive player with good hands, he works hard on the defensive end. He gets his fair share of steals in transition that leads to layups for others. He works his way to the corner for 3’s which he can knock down if you don’t get a hand up. He makes good decisions in close games.
Chris Cook 6’7 Forward Menlo HS (Menlo CA)
Cook has a good frame that’s going to fill out in the coming season. He has good fundamental skills and should be ready to take on a bigger role in the next season along with his 6’7 teammate 2022 Garret Kayhani. Menlo should have a formidable front line with those two patrolling the paint . He’s got the size and good hands to be an effective scorer in the post area, he gets good position, and uses his body. If he gets stronger and more assertive in the post he’ll raise his stock.
Oliver Crank 6’2 Guard, Hillsdale HS (San Mateo CA)
Crank a two sport athlete (Baseball) was on a Hillsdale team that had plenty of firepower on it’s way to a CCS Division II Title. I put Crank in the glue guy category. He wasn’t the leading scorer he averaged 9.8 ppg, playing in only 21 games. He was very effective with his pull up jumper in the paint. He’s team player, a good passer and he gets the ball to the scorers. He’s a hard nosed defender who has good lateral movement to stop players from going by him and the strength to hold his own in the post.
Spencer Lin 6’3 Wing, Menlo Atherton HS (Atherton CA)
Lin was a starter on a M/A team that went (23-5) 12-0 to win the PAL overall division title. He was a consistent player all season long and earned second team in the PAL South Division. A quick and versatile player, very effective on the attack from the wings. His quick first step left plenty of defenders in league chasing him. He has a good pull up jumper driving to the paint in transition. A solid player that doesn’t make many mistakes.
