Keegan Shivers (2020 Wilsonville): +34 (#63 to #29)
The decision to focus on basketball this summer paid off in a big way for Shivers (he had previously done both hoops and baseball). He worked hard on expanding his overall game – particularly his perimeter skills – and college coaches noticed. Add in the intangibles he has on the court and Shivers has gone from a high school glue guy to becoming a D-II/NAIA scholarship recruit.
Matthew Levis (2020 Jesuit): +28 (#55 to #27)
Jesuit’s title team was largely dominated by its seniors last year but Levis was certainly a contributor to that success. He went into the summer knowing the torch would be passed to him and he went to work. Levis balled out with International Elite and earned his first scholarship offer from Concordia. Other D-II/III programs have been in touch and the possibility of being the next Crusader D-I walk-on may very well be a reality.
Grant Dunn (2020 Silverton): +27 (#72 to #45)
Silverton was very deep last season and Dunn was basically a spot-up shooter off the bench. This summer, he took his game up another level by working hard on things such as rebounding and helping out more inside. Dunn still shoots it as well as anyone in the state and getting a scholarship offer from Multnomah helped him rise in the rankings.
Wayne Jamison (2020 Westview): +25 (#71 to #46)
Jamison didn’t play AAU basketball this off-season, choosing instead to focus on track in the spring and then family trips during the summer. He did play with Westview in June though and had stretches of dominance. The senior is a great all-around athlete who could find a good college situation where he does both basketball and track.
Justin Scoggin (2020 West Salem): +23 (#37 to #14)
Scoggin was already fairly highly regarded going into his junior year, having earned an invitation to the prestigous Prime Time Top 40 combine. He backed up that invite with a great junior year and further developed his all-around guard skills playing out-of-state AAU basketball with California Supreme. He’s been garnering a lot of D-II interest – including Western Oregon – which led to his ascension up the list.
Silas Bennion (2020 Churchill): +19 (#38 to #20)
Clearly Bennion was ranked too low in the last iteration of the rankings. Since those were made, the senior point guard earned Midwestern League Player of the Year honors and helped lead Churchill to the 5A state title game. After a good summer with Jordan Team Fly, he earned a high-level NAIA offer from Lewis-Clark State and recently committed to the Pioneers. The commitment happened after the latest update so he could be moving up even more.
Evan Inglesby (2020 Barlow): +17 (#27 to #10)
The highest rise into the Top Ten belongs to Inglesby. He earned co-Mt Hood Conference POY honors and despite splitting his time with golf in the spring and summer months, Inglesby played well on the AAU circuit with Jordan Team Fly. An all-around talent who blends in well with others while still being able to showcase his individual talents, it may be seen as unfair by some but the main reason why Inglesby isn’t higher is because of his split commitment to both hoops and the links.
Other high risers in the rankings include:
Andre Best (2020 Oregon City): +14 (#44 to #30)
Erik Fraser (2020 Grant): +13 (#30 to #17)
Tucker Pellici (2020 Franklin): +12 (#36 to #24)
Jamison Guerra (2020 Sherwood): +11 (#23 to #12)
Gabe Reichle (2020 Wilsonville): +6 (#14 to #8)
David Gonzales (2020 Silverton): +6 (#19 to #13)
Brian Goracke (2020 Churchill): +4 (#5 to #1)
