Continue ReadingAs his body has changed and his game has developed, Kamron Robinson has seen his stock continue to rise. The strong 6-foot-8 post from Jefferson stayed extremely busy this summer, playing AAU basketball at several events and also hitting a number of combines and camps. He’s already picked up two Division I scholarship offers and more could be on the way as he’s considering taking some campus visits.
In the spring Robinson ran with his usual Rose City Rebels 16U squad but they only played in one tournament at the start of July. So with the rest of the month free, the rising senior hooked up with a couple of other squads and it was well worth his time.
“I played with ML20 at the Gauntlet Finals and it was a good experience – ESPN and scouts were everywhere you looked,” Robinson said. “And I finished it out playing with Hoop Salem in Vegas. We lost but it was a good experience – it was my favorite summer by far.”
Also in there were some camps and combines such as the WIBCA in Bellevue and the Nike Elite 100 Camp. We most recently saw Robinson at Portland State Elite Camp where he ran the floor and dominated in the paint, but also stepped out and flashed a jumper – something he really focused on this off-season.
“I feel like I’m more of a stretch four now compared to when I used to just stay in the paint or be a clogger,” Robinson said. “My jumper is getting there too.”
All of the continued development has college programs knocking at his door. Montana and Pacific have offered and Robinson notes that the likes of Utah State, Arizona, and USC among others have been in contact. The Trojans in fact have been talking to him about bringing him on campus for an official visit and that’s something you could say has him pretty excited.
“USC is my dream school and there’s a little chance that I could commit (if they offered),” Robinson said. “It depends on who might be on the team though, I don’t want to go and be a bench rider or something like that. So I’m keeping it open.”
With visits possibly on the horizon, it will keep Robinson busy as he gets ready for the upcoming year. There’s no doubt the Demos want to avenge their loss in the state tournament finals last season but Robinson feels that Jefferson is capable of even more.
“I feel like we can be one of the best teams in the nation,” Robinson said. “I know that sounds crazy but we have the right pieces and if we mesh together, it’s going to be hard for a team to beat us no matter what players they have.”
Robinson currently ranks as the #7 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
