Jesse White (2020 Barlow/Team Fly) – Stats: 33 pts, 5 reb, 13-for-19 fg, 7-for-9 3pt – The 6-foot guard was absolutely on fire all night long. From the jump White was nailing bombs from distance and not just from the three-point line, but deep – like Damian Lillard range deep (30+ feet). ML20 started having the 6-foot-9 Eason come out to guard White to utilize his length, but White simply backed up and shot from further out. Late in the second half, White took it more to the basket and converted layups both off of drives and in transition.
Tari Eason (2020 Federal Way/ML20) – Stats: 22 pts, 13 reb, 3 blk – With Beauchamp out due to injury, Eason put the team on his back and did what he’s done so far this spring – produce. The forward was very active inside on both ends and used his length and athleticism to finish down low but he also stepped out and canned a couple of jumpers. There were a few gimmes he missed in the paint but overall it was a good performance from the junior foward.
Jaylen-Wes Williams (2020 Federal Way/ML20) – Stats: 16 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast – Williams may lack size at 5-foot-9 but he more than makes up with it with heart and effort. The junior worked extremely hard on both offense and especially on defense, as he got right in the grill of White to help lock down his three-point shooting. Offensively, he didn’t show too much of a jumpshot – although he did hit one three – but Williams took it hard to the hole and was able to convert some tough layups as well as find open teammates.
Jamon Kemp (2019 Rainier Beach/ML20) – Stats: 14 pts – The unsigned senior recently joined ML20 and he has given them athleticism on the wing at 6-foot-4. Kemp hit a number of jumpers but also utilized his athleticism to create off the dribble and acrobatically complete some hoops inside. As usual, he finished extremely well on the break. Strangely enough, he really didn’t contribute to the game other than scoring. It remains unknown what his future plans are at this time.
Fred Harding (2019 Lake Oswego/Team Fly) – Stats: 9 pts, 5 reb – Harding was Team Fly’s second leading scorer and six of those points came in the second half. The 6-foot-7 post did his best to counteract Eason down low and did a fairly credible job of making life difficult by contesting pretty much every shot attempt. Offensively, Harding battled down low and was able to come up with some tough buckets.
Erik Fraser (2020 Grant/Team Fly) – Stats: 8 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast – Fraser normally is spot on with his shooting but he was a bit off on the three-ball (1-for-6). Thus in the second half, the 6-foot-3 wing made an effort to take it hard to the basket and he was rewarded with not only his own points but also the opportunity to find open teammates for scores.
Antonio Salinas (2019 Zillah/ML20) – Stats: 9 pts, 3 ast, 3-for-5 3pt – Salinas is also another recent add to ML20 and on this night it’s clear he’s trying to fit in more as a point as he really didn’t look much for his own offense. Salinas took the shots he was given and especially in the second half, looked to facilitate and find the open man.
Joe Juhala (2020 West Linn/Team Fly) – Stats 7 pts – Juhala didn’t get a ton of playing time in the game, but as he’s been known to do he certainly made the most out of the time he got. Not long after he came into the game, he got the ball on the wing, saw an opening, and drove to the basket and finished with a thunderous slam. Juhala later stepped out and hit a open three. His size and athleticsm will always draw interest as he continues to develop his ball skills.
