Kottinger is a playmaker, who has a penchant for creating shots not only for himself, but for his teammate, too.
“I think my strengths as a player are that I can get my shot off, I can get open for my own shot and make it. And most importantly, I can play defense and make an impact with the energy I bring for my team,” said Kottinger.
As a sophomore at Venture Academy, he didn’t play the first month, but when he got his opportunity, he gradually made more and more of an impact.
“In the beginning of the season I didn’t really play much (transfer rules), so coming into the season I came off the bench and was more of a role player basically, to help my team point in as many ways as I could,” said Kottinger.
He started by season’s end, and said he excelled at making clutch shots. Kottinger scored 27 points in the first game of the playoffs.
Now, he’s carrying that last season success into his offseason with Team Creation on the Prep Hoops Circuit, he’s playing up a grade with the 17u unit.
“This year I was looking for something different and some more exposure. When I found out they were playing the Prep Hoops Circuit I decided to play with them and hopefully get my name out a little bit,” said Kottinger.
“My goal is to get stronger and more physical and smarter, so being with Prep Hoops and playing against all the other teams from the West Coast will really help me,” said Kottinger.
“My goal is to get some looks, and my main goal is to make it as far as I can with basketball, but most importantly to get a good education.”
