Any time you have this situation, it’s always interesting to see how the Seniors step up, and there were quite a few that were ready for the challenge.
Westover HS Guard Darius McLeod: He led Westover in scoring with 14 points on the day knocking down 4 out of 7 three point shots. He seems to be gaining more confidence as the season has gone on and can be a player that could step up big for the Wolverines once state playoff time comes.
Grays Creek Wing Antonio Dupree: Had a solid showing on the day with 17 points, when he’s locked in and aggressive to score the ball, he’s a player that we like. About 6’3 with a nice midrange game and decent athletic ability, he is one that we feel could be a nice fit in the right college situation.
EE Smith HS Senior Guard Chris Jordan: EE Smith had a rough day in their matchup with Westover but there were a few flashes of good play and one came from Guard Chris Jordan. He scored 9 points on the night, knocking down a couple trey balls, he’s what we would call somewhat of a streaky scorer, once he gets it going he can have a good day scoring the ball.
Grays Creek PG Christian Crockett: His ability to score the ball and attack the defense are things that make him a solid PG for his team. He has a good amount of speed so he can get out into transition and make plays early before the opposing defense has a chance to get set up. There was quite a few times where he got into the paint and either came up with an assist or drew a foul on his opponent.
Grays Creek PG Elijah Bowling: One of the stronger PG’s that we got to see as far as physique goes, and he understood how to use his strength to create space for himself. Another attribute we liked about his game was that he was aggressive at times but also unselfish, he didn’t force too many plays and seemed to play within the flow of the team gameplan.
Terry Sanford Guard Dante Bowlding: Although he is headed to college to play football, he’s a huge part of the Terry Sanford offense as he spends a good amount of time with the ball in his hands as a PG. He does a nice job of staying honest on defense, as well as getting the team into their sets on the offensive end
Westover HS Guard Tyron George: He didn’t have a big scoring night but what he did provide was the initial spark for his team in the first quarter as he scored the first few buckets of the game. On the defensive end of the floor he was locked in, applying pressure and playing the passing lanes for steals.
