Continue ReadingThis game between Northwood and Trinity was far from normal, Trinity got out to a big time lead to start the game but Northwood would respond in the 2nd quarter cutting the lead heading to the break. In the 2nd half Northwood continued to play well and would take the lead but the game would be a back and forth tug of war type match with Northwood holding on for the win 71-67.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Josh Nickelberry: If there was a player of the game, it would have to go to Josh without a doubt. He scored the ball at an extremely high level, giving whatever defender that matched up with him, major problems. His ability to hit the trey ball as well as get to the basket using his strength makes him a very difficult player to guard, he finished with 33 Points.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Charles Page: Stepped up in a major way for his team, especially late in the game. He knocked down some treys, but his most impressive attribute was his clutch free throw shooting, he stepped up to the line and hit all of his free throws late in the game when his team needed them.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Jamahri Harvey: Was solid throughout, he has the ability to slash to the basket or hit the outside shot. A long wingspan to go with his 6’4 height, he is an intriguing prospect and one that you have to keep a very close eye on.
Trinity Christian Senior Guard DJ Horne: Can light it up shooting wise, he got off to a quick start at the beginning of the game and although he went a bit cold, he hit some clutch shots in the 4th. Was solid on the defensive end of the floor as well, just an overall solid performance from the Illinois State signee.
Trinity Christian Senior Guard Talton Jones: One attribute about Talton that I truly appreciate is that he doesn’t settle, he’s aggressive to make the highest percentage play and won’t settle for anything else. He constantly was putting pressure on the defenders by attacking the basket and does a nice job of finishing through contact and in traffic.
Trinity Christian Junior Forward Todd Burtt: This was one of the better performances that we have seen from Burtt this season. He scored the ball at a solid rate, rebounded and kept his mistakes pretty low for the most part, he has some good upside but will need to lock in on both ends of the court to be successful in the future.
