Hoophall: Pratt back in Colorado; Dugazon now a senior
A couple pieces of news out of the Hoophall Miami Invitational, being played Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Western High, out of Davie, lost talented 6-foot-5 senior transfer Tristan Pratt.
Pratt, who transferred to Western from Colorado Springs (Colo.) Vista Ridge, decided to move back to be with his mother in Colorado, according to Western coach Kenneth Kelly.
The move is a blow to Western, which expected to be a factor in Class 9A.
Pratt played with Western during the summer and Hollywood Fall League and was impressive, teaming with 2019 sharpshooter Damari Monsanto.
Pratt had been committed to Northern Colorado before transferring to Western.
Western lost its season opener Wednesday to Miami Norland, 51-41, at the Hoophall.
DUGAZON NOW A SENIOR
Fort Lauderdale Stranahan guard Brian Dugazon is officially a senior, according to the Dragons staff.
Dugazon, who played last season as a sophomore, moved up to the 2019 class because of the age limit.
“He was going to age out [19 rule],” Stranahan officials told me.
The 5-9 guard scored 35 points Saturday in an overtime loss to defending Class 5A state champion University School at the Sunshine State Preseason Classic at Cardinal Gibbons.
Dugazon had 6 points Wednesday as Stranahan lost to Miami Christian in its season opener at the Hoophall.
Stranahan went 20-7 a season ago, winning its district over American Heritage-Plantation before falling to Leesburg in the regional final.
