NC’s Top Dime Droppers
One of the more underrated stats in our game is the assist, scoring and rebounding are areas of the game that are consistently highlighted but sometimes assist are overlooked. So let’s take a look at some of the top facilitators/dual threat guards in the state.
Northside Pinetown Junior Guard Rashod Smith: 20 Points and 7 Assist per game are the numbers that we got for him last season, which is pretty impressive. Factor in that he’s doing this at about 5’7-5’8 and it makes it even more impressive that he is able to dominate the game in such a fashion.
Greensboro Day School Sophomore Guard Cam Hayes: This will be a name that you will hear a lot about in the coming years if you haven’t heard a ton already. He is a very talented youngster that can cause all types of problems on the court for defenders, whether he’s scoring or facilitating, he constantly is having an impact on the game.
Pender HS Sophomore Guard Khalil Marshall: He’s known for his ability to the score the ball at a very high rate, but his passing talents are something that has been often overlooked. Taking a look at the stats from last season, he averaged about 6 Assist a night to go along with his 20 points per contest average.
High Point Christian Sophomore Guard KJ Garrett: When we first saw him at the Elite 50 Middle School Showcase, he was more of a scoring guard. Well since that time he has developed more into a dual threat kind of player, he can still the ball at a high level but is looking more now to get his teammates involved first. The maturity that possess on and off the court is something that you don’t really see from a youngster his age.
Page HS Senior Guard Trent McIntyre: We feel as though he should have a big time season this year and turn some more heads recruitment wise. Last season he finished the year averaging about 11 points and 5 Assist per game, he has a nice natural feel for the game as well as good athletic ability and basketball IQ.
