Recruiting Report: Jackson Jangula (2019)
Comets Kirchner was one of the top AAU teams in the state this summer and a big reason why was because of consistent production from so many different players. One of the driving forces behind the team’s success was Cathedral point guard Jackson Jangula.
Jangula is one of the better point guards in the 2019 class and while he has yet to put up huge numbers, he’s been a consistent high school and AAU performer for a while now. Jangula said this summer was a good one for his development.
“I think overall, it was a great season,” said Jangula. “It was a lot of fun. We played well together and our defense was really strong. I loved playing with those guys. It was a great group to play with the last few years.”
Jangula isn’t the biggest guard, but he’s explosive with the ball, has good shooting range and combines it with a crafty in-between game. Already an established facilitator, Jangular showed this summer he’s capable of driving a good offense and putting up points.
“Going from AA basketball to AAU is a big step but I think I played well,” said Jangula. “I shot the ball well. I scored more than I did during the winter. I like to think I helped set a tone for our defense too because that’s how I want to play; aggressive, tough defense.”
A two-sport stud at Cathedral, Jangula may also have options to play baseball in college. He said he’s gotten much more interest on the court though and would like to continue hoops at the next level.
“Basketball is my sport and what I’d like to do in college,” said Jangula. “I’ve got a visit coming up with Concordia-Moorhead. St. Johns has talked to me and they want me to come visit. A couple Dakota schools; Mayville, Jamestown, Mount Marty. Jamestown wants me and one of my AAU teammates to come visit which would be cool. I’m not in a huge hurry to rush a decision and I’m excited about some of these potential schools.”
