2019 Mainland F Rodney Rhoden talks junior season, recruitment and more
Mainland had a fine season behind a deep group of lengthy athletes.
2019 forward Rodney Rhoden played an integral part in his team’s 21-8 record and Class 7A region final appearance. The Buccaneers lost to Hillsborough 53-49 in a back and forth defensive battle.
“My junior year at Mainland has been a success I average 17 points per game with many triple-doubles,” Rhoden told Prep Hoops. “My confidence has grown in my ability to lead the team and making plays during crunch time.”
Mainland graduated four seniors, but Rhoden will be playing alongside fellow 2019 forward Johnny Brown, 2019 guard Da’Von Robinson, 2020 guard Taron Keith and 2020 transfer Jordan Sears. 7A will be tough with Mainland filled with scorers and hard nosed players.
The 6’5″ Rhoden is running with Team MOAM this summer.
Currently, he has three offers to his name from Bethune Cookman, Georgia Southern and Long Beach State. He says all three programs text him daily.
Rhoden also has interest from Washington State and Campbell.
He says college coaches like his ability to read the floor, shoot from outside and the mid-range, work from inside the block and be an exceptional passer.
Rhoden pointed to his biggest strengths as his playmaking ability, being coachable and determination to always get better.
He wants to continue to become more consistent all-around.
Naturally gifted, Rhoden hustles back on defense evident by this block below at the USF camp a few weeks ago. He can shoot well for a wing type and he has the abiility to mix it up as a guard with his handling and attacking. Rhoden will draw more attention in July and this fall from Division I programs as his body of work is too good to be ignored.
