We wanted to give you a look at the top players in each region. No better way to do that with our Preseason All-Area Teams! Today we look at the South Suburbs!

PG – [player_tooltip player_id='2467517' first='Darrius' last='Hawkins'] (Homewood Flossmoor)

The HF lead guard might be the most exciting PG in the state to watch. He has dazzling handles being to shake defenders off the dribble at will and a nifty finishing game with his acrobatic layup package. Solid stop and pop pull up jumper and plays with a ton of speed. Pesky on ball defender that has passing flair!

SG – [player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] (Bolingbrook)

Pettigrew is the best prospect and probably the best player in the state. He won Nike EYBL 16U MVP with how he played and seems to continue to be getting better each time we see him. Plus athlete with size and legit three level scoring in his repertoire. The creativity and smoothness to his game are what really stand out as he does everything with such ease.

SF – [player_tooltip player_id='2532349' first='Owen' last='Kirby'] (Romeoville)

Kirby steps right into the Romeoville lineup as a lights out shooter with plus positional size. He will be a lights out shooter right from the jump that stretches the floor making it easier for Fears and their other guys to operate.

PF – [player_tooltip player_id='2839876' first='Ryan' last='Dinnon'] (Andrew)

Dinnon is a PHI favorite as the D2 commit is a floor stretching four man who is among the premier shooters in the senior class. Such an effortless shot making them from three with consistency. Can also rebound at a good level and play out of the post when needed.

C – [player_tooltip player_id='3643306' first='Amari' last='Williams'] (Shepard)

Williams is a strong and broad shouldered junior who is the top post in the 2028 class. The physical and athletic tools are all there for Williams. If things click for him from a consistency standpoint on the offensive end look out! Did have some flashes over the summer.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2323599' first='Jamarri' last='Fears'] (Romeoville)

Fears has the table set for his senior campaign. The quick and shifty point guard is the last Fears brother in a long line of talented guards from the south suburbs. He has a Romeoville squad now that can run with him as the biggest winner of the transfer portal.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2918205' first='Keiwon' last='Gulley'] (Bloom)

Gulley is a flat-out bucket getter! The compact scoring guard dazzled as a young prospect last year and now with a year of experience the bowling ball is ready to roll over the competition putting up massive numbers.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2125671' first='Nojus' last='Venckus'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2125668' first='Nedas' last='Venckus'] (Lockport)

Emporia State commits are two of the best players in Lockport in a long time. They are so exciting at the guard spot playing off each other with their cutting, passing, and athleticism at the rim. Also are underrated defenders.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='3683049' first='Dereon' last='Smothers'] (Bolingbrook)

Smothers transferred back to the state and after a couple stops at other schools during the summer ended up at Bolingbrook. Going to be a great running mate with Pettigrew as he brings size, length, and athleticism to impact on both ends of the floor.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2540205' first='John' last='Brown IV'] (Homewood Flossmoor)

The Vikings has a talented post in Brown who could be primed for a breakout junior campaign. One of the more intriguing junior posts in Illinois he has all the physical and athletic tools. When he focuses on his rim running, finishing out of the dunker spot, rebounding, and defense then letting the perimeter game come to him.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='3575083' first='Enoch' last='Olukolade'] (Oak Forest)

If you are looking for pure power and athleticism in a front court player that is exactly what Olukolade brings to the table. He throws down some of the most explosive dunks in the state and snatches rebounds in traffic at their highest point.
