ECI Team Camp Preview: Group A
Group A features a nice group of talent which includes the 3A back to back champions in Cox Mill HS. Trask, Wallace Rose Hill, West Carteret, Millbrook, West Rowan, East Chapel Hill and Ashley HS are all schools that are included in this group as well so let’s take a look at some of the teams and names to keep an eye on.
Trask HS (Record Last Season 25-3): The firepower that this team has lost from last year will cause the team to have some growing pains early and throughout. Junior Watson Orr and Senior Guard BJ Jordan will be two players that need to step their production up in a major way if the squad wants to be competitive.
West Carteret HS (Record Last season 13-8): They didn’t have a bad season last year finishing with a winning record and pulling off a few upsets. One of the positives for this team is that they will return a high amount of players from last year so team chemistry shouldn’t be an issue at all.
Cox Mill HS (Record Last Season 29-3): The champs are back and are looking to win three in a row this year and will have a good chance to do so with the high amount of talent that they are bringing back. Top Senior Wendell Moore is back of course along with Senior Forward Caleb Stone-Carrawell who was huge for the team in their state championship game win last year. Senior Guard Cody Cline is back and will cause havoc once again for opponents with his outstanding defense, so don’t be surprised to see this team in the mix for another championship.
Millbrook HS (Record Last Season 16-13): This team is very intriguing as they have quite a bit of talent coming back and names that you have definitely heard of before. Senior Guard Isaiah Lewis is one player that you have to be excited about, he has been on an absolute tear this spring and summer for WBCA and looks to have a big time senior season. Sophomore Forward/Center William Felton is probably the team highest prospect at he is a 6’6 youngster who already has a high amount of upside to him.
East Chapel Hill (Record Last Season 6-17): Last season was a difficult year for this team but they will look to bounce back with a better season this year. They graduate a high amount of seniors so this will definitely be a rebuilding year for them, look for the team to have some younger player step up as the year goes on.
