SEBA Summer League: Wednesday Night Notes
SEBA League continued at Berkeley Prep on Wednesday night with four games.
Here are the results:
Berkeley Prep 66, Bloomingdale 19
Tampa Catholic 70, Bloomingdale 13
Berkely Prep 78, Freedom 36
Tampa Catholic beat Freedom (no score reported)
Kegan Karnes (Berkeley Prep)
A mature shooter from the start of his freshman season, 2020 Berkeley Prep guard Kegan Karnes caught fire in the two games his team played on Wednesday night. The 5’11” guard hit four 3’s in the opening half against Bloomingdale and then accounted for seven 3’s including three in a row against Freedom. He’s pretty much automatic when left wide open. Karnes is a polished shooter, scrappy defender who forces a lot of steals and has improved his floater.

Isaiah Elmore (Tampa Catholic)
Isaiah Elmore is a big man on the rise. The 6’7″ 2020 forward has clearly put in the time in the gym. The Tampa Catholic starter is shooting with confidence from outside and from the mid-range. Elmore is an impressive defender who hustles on both ends. He is an underrated passer who is frequently using outlet passes to his advantage on the night.

Chase Barrs (Berkeley Prep)
Last season, Chase Barrs settled into his role at Berkeley Prep after coming over from Sickles. The 6’8″ forward showed flashes. Fast forward to right now and he’s much more vocal and confident in himself. The 2019 forward is a defensive leader who loves grabbing boards and buckling down as an attacker earning frequent trips to the free throw line. He’s a high IQ big man.
Johni Broome/Diontray Manuel (Tampa Catholic)
A pair of 2020 athletes, Johni Broome and Diontray Manuel had bright moments for the Crusaders. Broome, a 6’8″ forward just transferred to Tampa Catholic from Plant City. He gives Tampa Catholic another rising junior to build up and another lengthy guy to rotate in. Broome is a big man who hustles on the boards. Manuel, a 6’1″ guard is running with the starters and he provides energy when on the floor.

Ronnie Williams/Matt Mulfinger (Berkeley Prep)
Berkeley Prep is already making life comfortable for Ronnie Williams. The 6’5″ 2020 forward came over from Clearwater Central Catholic and although his shot selection isn’t consistent, his effort, passing and defensive intensity are showing up. Williams will only make the Buccaneers better. Also, 2021 guard Matt Mulfinger proved to be a nice spark plug for Berkeley Prep. The 6’0″ guard is a high IQ player, hard nosed defender and a guy filled with ardor.
