2018 OCP G Jordan Rodriguez talks commitment, back to back state titles and more
Orlando Christian Prep won back to back Class 3A state titles.
With a 66-48 win over Ft. Myers Canterbury in the state final in March, the Warriors took home consecutive victories in Lakeland for two years running.
An integral part of the team’s success was 2018 guard Jordan Rodriguez. Alongside fellow 2018 starters North Carolina commit Nassir Little, Buffalo commit Ronaldo Segu and DeJuan Lockett and 2019 forwards CJ Walker and Kai Jones, Rodriguez was a 3-point specialist and steady ballhandler for his side.
On Monday, he officially announced that he’ll be committing to play at Division II Nyack College in New York this fall.

Also, nicknamed the Warriors, Nyack is a good fit for Rodriguez. He’s been playing for Balkman Elite this spring and showing plenty of his all-around ability.
“It’s been going pretty well with Balkman Elite,” Rodriguez told Prep Hoops. “This is my second year with them and they’ve treated me like family since day one. Definitely, a great program that I am proud to be apart of and hope to see them grow as years go by.”
Speaking about his senior campaign, Rodriguez labeled it a good one. He returned to full health after missing much of his junior season due to injury.
“I played the role that I was assigned and did whatever I could to help us win games throughout the course of the year. I believe my confidence grew in my game as a whole I wouldn’t really pinpoint a specific area,” Rodriguez said. “Playing with guys like Nassir, Rondo and CJ it opened my eyes as to what you would see at that collegiate level and going against each and every day in practice really helped me prepare for that.”
The 6’0″, 168-pounder said his biggest strengths are his ability to knock down shots on a consistent basis, his IQ and versatility as a two-guard. He’s aiming to improve his overall athleticism and strength for the next level.
One of the nicest and most genuine kids you’ll meet, Rodriguez is beyond deserving of this Division II opportunity. He’s quietly sound as a scorer and he gets low on defense using every inch of his body to slow down offenses.
