Spring League Standouts: Monday Night (Pinellas County)
On Monday night, the Pinellas County spring league began at Countryside Recreation Center.
Three games were played.
Below are the results.
Game 1: Superior Collegiate 50, X-Factor (2020) 46
Game 2: X-Factor (2019) 55, Calvary Christian 41
Game 3: St. Pete Catholic 74, Countryside 48
Here are the top standouts from the opening night.
Max Jones (X-Factor)
An aggressive and natural slasher, Max Jones stood out for X-Factor. The 2020 Clearwater started for the 2020 group in the first game and came off the bench for the 2019 group later on. He is an impactful player who finds good spots inside.
Josh Frazier (Superior Collegiate)
Part of a young Superior Collegiate unit, Josh Frazier was a consistent scoring threat. Known for his outside touch, he was active in sets making moves down low for buckets. The 6’2″ guard is going to be a nice player in the 2020 class.
Robert Hardy (Superior Collegiate)
A 2019 forward, Robert Hardy was fresh off a long weekend of hoops in Dallas with the Showtime Ballers. The 6’6″ forward is always going to score regardless of who he plays against. Headed into his post-grad year, the first at Superior Collegiate, he will likely take the next step.
Josh Berenbaum (Calvary Christian)
The clear leader for this revamped Calvary Christian squad, 2020 guard Josh Berenbaum wasn’t hitting from outside often, but he made it count inside. The 6’5″ guard is lengthy and uses his body and strength to get past defenders on the break.
Keenan Hester (St. Pete Catholic)
A highly ranked defensive tackle, Keenan Hester holds 11 offers for his work on the gridiron. However, the 6’5″ forward can get it done on the court as well. He shoots the ball surprisingly well. Hester’s best attribute is his willingness to take on contact and grab rebounds. It was too easy for Hester with his size advantage against Countryside.
Mikey Shane (Countryside)
One of the most impressive younger athletes on the night was 2021 guard Mikey Shane. Listed at 5’7″, he’s in for a big role on an entirely different looking Countryside team. He has very crafty awareness, vision and ballhandling. If he can get a little bigger by the end of the summer. his confidence will only increase.
