-Continue to come away impressed with the balance in Pitts’ performances as a key piece for this Thrill group. Pitts used a screen to knock down a top of the key 3 off the bounce, sprinted ahead to be a passing target for easy runout layups, was an effective outlet passer after snagging defensive rebounds, hit a teammate under the rim with a live dribble dime from the opposite half of the court, hit shots off of pindowns or staggers, and was an unselfish passer that was always looking to skip passes to the opposite side of the court. I expect his game to continue to expand as he continuously hits growth spurts that should really raise his ceiling as a versatile wing prospect that plays a winning brand of basketball.

-Pitts will likely continue to ascend our rankings as a combo guard prospect with good positional size and a diverse skillset. The trademark skill is for sure the shooting, as Pitts is a knockdown movement shooter that gets off his shot quickly without rushing his form. But he also looks to have improved his ability to knock down shots off the bounce, hitting sidestep and stepback 3s with relative ease from both the wings and the corner. Love that–despite the shooting touch and scoring ability– Pitts remains a willing passer in transition that threw 1-handed dimes off a live dribble to the opposite block while operating in high ball screens in the middle of the floor. Pitts hails from a long line of hoopers in his family that stand 6’5+, if he reaches that height–we’re talking about a national level CG prospect.

Another standout freshman on the Lakers who deserved a bump is Pitts. Nearing 6-foot-2, Pitts boasts a wiry frame with fluid shooting mechanics that he can use to convert in volume from three. He’s able to use that strength of spacing the floor and play off the gravity he demands to make life easier for others. Whether that’s maintaining spacing in the half court to create driving lanes, making split-second decision off the catch as defenders rotate or getting to spots in the paint where he’s flashed a soft-touch floater, Pitts has the feel that we’d like to see with a spot-up shooter in his grade. High likelihood of Pitts sprouting another 3-5 inches by the time he wraps up his high school career, which would only add to the long-term trajectory.

Pitts is a high octane shot-maker who makes his mark from deep. If he has his feet set he is probably converting from deep. He is also able to get to the charity stripe. Pitts also can play confidently with the ball in his hands and can operate out of the two man game. I look forward to watching his development over the next several years.
