The Freshmen Showcase was stacked with talent, and surrounding that talent was guards from door to door. Which of those guards stood out? We break it down now!

[player_tooltip player_id='2923915' first='Jovan' last='Clay'] of St. Louis Park. Clay is a 5'9 guard so he likely needs to grow some before we see talk too much varsity but I think his future at St LP is bright. He should have a great year at whatever younger level he will be at and then have what I think could be a standout varsity career. I saw him score 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting playing half of the 40 minute running time game plus he grabbed six boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2857837' first='Soren' last='Collins'] of Hiill-Murray. Soren's determination and his focused demeanor stood out to me immediately. This was a no nonsense competitive 6'1 guard based on first impression. In the game I saw, scored 18 points knocking out 8 of 13 attempts for the winning team. Collins appears to be a key part of that new young wave of talent at Hill-Murray.

[player_tooltip player_id='2434106' first='Jewhan' last='Edwards'] of DeLaSalle. Not sure if you have noticed but the Islanders have a massive, massive collection of young talent. Edwards is among that talent. He used his speed to get wherever he wanted and it didn't matter if his man was in position or not, Edwards leveraged his way to a crafty finish at a constant rate in this showcase scenario. One of the elite guards at the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2456461' first='Timmy' last='Thomas']. When it comes to guards that got down hill and finished as they got inside the arc, Thomas was among the better at the event. At this point in his career his speed, his first step, balance, body control, and shifty movement with the basketball led to constant playmaking.

Adonis Williams of South St. Paul. I really like the potential of this 6'1 guard. Has length, is a very smooth crafty player and he moves well. I thought every choice he made in the game I saw was the right choice. Several smart passes, took the right shots, and overall was ahead of others when it came to maturity.

Caleb Williams of Rochester Lourdes. One of the most efficient players and mature players I saw was Caleb. Caleb scored 17 points on 8 of 12 shooting, and it was his timing within each possession of the attempt that really caught my eye. Watching him play, I have to believe he can help a varsity team sooner than later in his career. A name to watch in the next couple years!
