With the debut of our first ever Virginia 2028 class rankings last month, we'll take a deep dive into some of the players and their strengths now as we continue to watch them develop. Here's part one of some of the top shooters in the sophomore class in VA.

[player_tooltip player_id='2548181' first='Isaiah' last='Carter'] | 6'6” SG | Highland School (#1 Overall)

Carter is considered one of the top recruits in the country in the 2028 class who already holds multiple high major offers, and while he has a fantastic all-around game it's his shooting at his size that makes him so intriguing to the highest level collegiate schools in the country. At 6'6” he has the frame to get his shot off without a ton of space, he has smooth form every time, he is consistent off the catch, and add in the fact he isn't a liability defensively simply ups his stock that much more.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916372' first='Damien' last='Robinson'] | 6'1” PG | Landstown (#5 Overall)

Robinson was one of the rare All State selections you'll find in Virginia high school hoops, and he did so in the biggest public school classification and leading his young Landstown team to a state tournament appearance as their top scorer. There's a lot to like about Robinson ranging from his feel, competitive nature and all-around scoring ability as a young guard, but the fact that he shoots it a high clip with effortless range both off the catch and off the bounce makes him one of the hardest players in this class to guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194780' first='Aaron' last='Bryant'] | 6'1” PG | Paul VI (#6 Overall)

Bryant had to wait his turn as a freshman playing sparingly for a PVI team that won their second straight WCAC title and made a run to the VISAA D-I state championship, but this summer he really broke out showing he's a top notch shooter with a lot to his game that will only improve moving forward. He shot over 50% from deep on the Nike E15 circuit for Team Takeover, he had multiple games of three or more 3-pointers for PVI in the DMV Live sessions, and while he can drill it from deep he also brings playmaking and a competitive chip to lead his team as a point guard too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916390' first='Ryan' last='Bahr'] | 6'4” SG | Paul VI (#9 Overall)

Bahr is the younger brother of Bishop Ireton standout senior [player_tooltip player_id='2347772' first='Jake' last='Bahr'] who is also a certified sniper, and he was another PVI player that broke out during the DMV Live sessions, showing incredible confidence in his ability to fill it up from deep and being elite in his role. While he's apparently a big time baseball recruit, Bahr could be recruited as a division one basketball player too with his prototypical size on the wing, his nonstop motor off the ball and ability to set his feet, and his effortless range from deep as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918910' first='Connor' last='Miles'] | 6'4” SG | Episcopal (#17 Overall)

Miles is part of a very talented and young Episcopal team that will only get better if they stick together over the next few years, and he's a very intriguing prospect with his ability to knock down shots from deep at his size. Already standing 6'4” and possibly still growing he showed confidence and quick release from deep, played his role off the bench and wasn't afraid to let it fly, was efficient in catch-and-shoot scenarios, and he brings some toughness defensively too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2395088' first='Carlos' last='Lanier'] | 6'0” CG | North Cross (#20 Overall)

Lanier was the sixth man for a North Cross group that made a run to the VISAA D-II state semifinal last season, and while he has some very talented older players ahead of him in the backcourt he was simply too talented to not have on the floor when it mattered the most. In their close semifinal loss to Peninsula Catholic, Lanier drilled six three-pointers in the game on the biggest stage, showing great confidence and no fear, and on top of that he can play on the ball and make plays for others and he has some toughness to him as well.
