Our scouts wanted to take the time to reflect back on some standout players outside of the top-100 to show some love to some of the top performers that might not always get the publicity that they deserve with their play. We'll cover top defenders, best playmakers, elite scorers, hottest shooters, and more! Today, let's start with some of the better guard defenders in the area. Let's dive in!

-Absolutely unconscious shooter that just needs the slightest sliver of open air space to get off his shot. Corkin spreads the floor well for a good IC team that should be competitive again in AA County but he is also selective in taking the RIGHT shot. He adds in some value as a playmaker from a standstill on the wings who also isn't afraid to get some dirt on his jersey fighting for loose balls or chasing long rebounds. His ability to move without the ball is what makes him special though, as he times his fades or curls away from his defender the second that they turn their head so he can get off a clean look before they even realize what's happening.

-Jones has come on strong this summer and has carved out a nice role for himself as a floor-spacing guard that should be huge for the Eagles this season. Jones has grown an inch or two but has really improved his feel as a mover off the ball that sets screens for teammates to free himself up to come off of a screen himself. Despite his ability to shoot it over hard closeouts, he isn't a selfish teammate and uses that shooting gravity to make the one-more pass to open teammates in order to get the best shot possible for his group. His handle has also improved to allow him to get to one-dribble pull-ups after ducking under a closeout much more smoothly and efficiently.

-Forecasting a consistent role for Sauritch in his freshman season as a heady shooter that understands the value of open looks. Sauritch has good positional size but he's already pretty advanced about reading the defense in ball screen situations to either reject or sit behind screens for open looks from 3. Shooters have always really thrived in the spread offense that Bullis runs and if the summer is any indication, that trend should continue as I expect him to develop into one of the most accurate snipers in the area.

-Zedak brings a ton of value as a guard that isn't afraid to mix it up in the paint or in scrums for loose balls/long rebounds but also as an off-ball mover that can hit shots. Always come away impressed by Zedak's ability to get his balance under him quickly off of movement, after picking up a loose ball, or after splitting a screen to quickly rise up for a jumper from all 3 levels. The touch to be able to score from all over the floor whether it's a long 3 or a short jumper in the key shows the sophistication of his skillset. Should be a huge piece for Whitman this year.

-Hall has consistently held it down as a starter that can thrive both on or off the ball because of a diverse skillset. His confidence as a shooter will push him to let go a contested three even if he was 0-6 before it because he is just as likely to make his next 6 shots. Love the consistent follow-through and lift on his jumper from beyond the arc but he is starting to hit floaters and short turnaround jumpers in the paint with more consistency. Hall's development as a guard that sees the floor well allows him to execute cross-court skip passes to teammates that would be dangerous for other players-- but because of his shooting gravity-- he is able to find teammates with ease in the halfcourt. Hall won an AA championship as a sophomore and will look to go out on top again in his final season as one of the leaders for a 2026 group that has been together for awhile.

-Hassan has the ability to get hot in a hurry, turning in some impressive personal scoring runs that flipped the momentum of games for the Bulldogs. He's got great positional size, has really worked on his handle to allow him to get into his jumpshot more efficiently off the bounce, and has become a tough shot-maker over the past few months. Whether it's a stepback two or a sidestep three, the bag has improved quite a bit to allow him to score more easily and consistently in the halfcourt.
