I was really impressed with Bertke in both games I caught on Saturday and Sunday as his ability to pass for his size, start the break and finish over smaller defenders is a super uniqure skillset that a ton of college coaches are looking to find. Showing more confidence as a slasher in the paint than I saw in the spring, Bertke also had a couple right-handed finishes at the rim. One of Bertke's best skills is his lob finishing with a couple crazy catch and finishes from passes around half-court being sent right at the rim for him to control and score off of. Bertke also just simply shot over smaller defenders for a couple easy buckets and overall played with a ton of confidence and swagger. If college coaches see this level of production and confidence during July then I'd expect Bertke to start to collect some Division I offers as his tools are next level.

One of the top small town bucket getters in Ohio, Reisinger is a strong wing athlete who flat out wants to score the rock. Able to get to the rim and go through defenders, Reisinger can use his physicality and score at the rim. Also an impressive perimeter shooter, when Reisinger is knocking down the 3-point shot off the dribble there's little you can do to stop him from scoring. I'll be curious to see how Reisinger continues to develop his ball-handling and explosiveness athletically, he's one of the most talented players from western Ohio.

A new name that I caught for the first time on Saturday evening, Kirura did a little bit of everything for his team. A strong framed wing who can dribble, pass and shoot, Kirura knocked down a couple contested pull-up jumpers, made some impressive passes and helped run the offense as the primary facilitator. A bit of an unknown around Ohio, Kirura certainly helped put his name on the map for a Genoa Christian squad that could surprise some folks in central Ohio this season.

Perrysburg has a talented 2027 class and Gray was their standout performer on Saturday, impressing myself in front of the Lourdes staff that just gave him his first offer. Gray did a nice job playing off DHO's and balancing scoring for himself and setting the table for his teammates. Gray had a couple nice skip passes to shooters and felt comfortable when the defense keyed in on him after he started scoring the basketball efficiently. One of the better guards in northwest Ohio's 2027 class, Gray is a name you'll be hearing more about over the next two seasons.

Hawken was getting active on Saturday evening with their guard trio scoring the basketball just like we saw during their regional championship playoff run in March. Taylor is one of the most talented 2028 guards in Ohio and he shot the ball at a high level from 3-point range and had a couple floaters when he looked to attack closeouts. The key for Hawken this season will to have these guards continue to work together and generate easier shots for each other in the half-court.

I've heard really good things about Vaughn Jr before finally getting to see him in person on Saturday afternoon. What I heard was true as Vaughn showed why he's one of the most athletic wings in northeast Ohio's 2028 class and a prospect with incredibly high upside. Vaughn Jr has a quick first step and scored at the rim with a variety of tough finishes. In transition Vaughn Jr tried dunking on a defender and was rewarded with free throws. I want to see how well Vaughn Jr shoots the basketball from 3-point range during my next scout of his game but the physical tools, motor and production he already showed me has me very intrigued.

It takes a lot for a smaller guard to stand out like Waller did on Saturday as he was doing everything for Whitmer offensively. A lead guard who wants to create and score, Waller can get where he wants to off the dribble and scored off pull-ups, drives and in transition. Playing fast in all facets of the game, Waller will hopefully let the game slow down for him as he continues to get comfortable playing with some talented teammates at Whitmer and against some top competition he didn't get to see as often as a freshman. The offensive skill Waller showed for his age was very impressive and he's a guy I'll continue to monitor his progress as he had a good weekend that should spark a breakout sophomore season for the Panthers.
