Section 7 Qualifier: Players to Watch Pt. 1

The Section 7 Qualifier is almost here, and with it comes a chance for Arizona prospects to make their mark. Some will be stepping into new roles, while others will take on more responsibility — whether it's leading vocally, setting the tone on the court, or anchoring their teams when it matters most. With more responsibility comes more pressure, but these players are built for it. Here's a look at some names to keep an eye on during this year's qualifier weekend.    One of Arcadia's top returning scorers, Brock, will be back at Section 7 looking to make noise. He averaged 18 points per game last season and won't be shy come qualifier time. A confident shot taker who's stayed sharp on the circuit with AZ Select — one of the top club teams in Arizona — Brock should be ready to go from the opening tip. He brings reliable shot-making, three-point range, mid-range pull-ups, and the ability to create his own looks. With a strong feel for the game, he'll be a key offensive weapon once again for Arcadia.     It's a big year ahead for Arcadia's [player_tooltip player_id='1986845' first='Mason' last='Kendrick'], who led the team in both scoring and rebounding last season, averaging 18 points and 9 boards per game. Arcadia will lean on him heavily once again — both as a go-to scorer and a leader. A versatile wing who can defend multiple positions and score efficiently with minimal dribbles, Kendrick will look to help lead his squad out of the qualifier and onto the big stage at Section 7.     Horizon brings back its leading scorer for one more year in Ethan, who averaged 13.2 points and 4 rebounds per game last season for the Huskies. A versatile wing who can attack the rim and knock down threes at a high level, Ethan has taken noticeable strides in his game. I had the opportunity to see him multiple times this summer, and his catch-and-shoot ability has reached another level. With a quick release and efficient shooting from deep, defenses will need to lock in on him this season if they want any chance of slowing him down.     An athletic wing/forward who will be a key piece for Horizon this season. He runs the floor hard, makes himself a constant threat in transition, and attacks the rim with force. He also showed the ability to knock down shots from deep, making him a tough cover who can impact the game both inside and out.     Arizona Lutheran's top returning scorer, [player_tooltip player_id='2812746' first='Cash' last='Hill'], is set to make his presence felt during the qualifier weekend. With last season's leading scorer having graduated, the junior will step into an even bigger role as both a leader and primary scoring option. Cash brings elite three-point shooting ability, especially off the catch, and is a serious threat in transition when attacking downhill. A confident and smart shot taker, he gets his shot off quickly and knows how to pick his spots.
