Expert Analysis
Delon Bowen | Prep Hoops Scout
Hayes was a bright spot for Horizon, showing a strong feel for the game with his movement away from the ball and his ability to finish through contact. He played with good balance attacking downhill, competed on the boards, and brought physicality around the basket. His activity and toughness stood out throughout the night.

Hayes had the three-ball on lock all game — couldn’t give him any space or it was going up and in. Has a quick, high release and stayed ready to shoot at all times. Played unselfish, made the extra pass when needed, and showed he can put it on the floor and attack closeouts. Moved well without the ball and consistently found open pockets in the defense. Tough cover all night.

Horizon brings back its leading scorer for one more year in Ethan, who averaged 13.2 points and 4 rebounds per game last season for the Huskies. A versatile wing who can attack the rim and knock down threes at a high level, Ethan has taken noticeable strides in his game. I had the opportunity to see him multiple times this summer, and his catch-and-shoot ability has reached another level. With a quick release and efficient shooting from deep, defenses will need to lock in on him this season if they want any chance of slowing him down.

Played with good feel off the ball—moved well to open spots and took advantage of defensive lapses. Made the most of drive-and-kick opportunities and showed he can be a consistent threat when left open.

He showcased his ability to get threes off quickly and efficiently, particularly from the corners and wings, making him one of the most dangerous floor spacers on Day 2. With a compact, repeatable shooting form and a lightning-quick release, he punished defenses for even slight lapses in coverage. He was a deadeye shooter throughout the day—someone you absolutely couldn’t afford to leave open. What stood out even more was his movement without the ball. He played with a high IQ, consistently relocating to open spots on the floor and creating high percentage looks for himself. Whether it was off a drive-and-kick, a screen, or simple recognition of defensive rotations, he found open space and made himself a constant threat.
