Windy City War featured some of the premier teams from Illinois and the Midwest. Prep Hoops had tons of coverage from the event. We continue to dive into it here in Windy City War: Illinois 2028 Standouts!

[player_tooltip player_id='2389292' first='Troy' last='Ford'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2785912' first='Team' last='FVV'] 15U)

Ford is a 6'4” combo forward that showed a ton of upside The Rockford Auburn forward is a smooth athlete that is a switchable defender on the defensive end. His quickness on the offensive glass was evident. Got quite a few put backs. Projectable frame to where he should continue to grow. Runs the floor in transition, euro steps off the bounce, and displayed a smooth looking shot from mid-range along with stretching to three. Lot of potential here!

Da'Quinn Hill ([program_tooltip program_id='2785912' first='Team' last='FVV'] 15U)

Hill was a flat-out bucket getter from his point guard spot. The 5'10” Rockford Jefferson guard is super quick and shifty with the rock in his hands. Gets in the lane for soft touch finishes. Also has an absolutely lethal pull up game from both mid-range and three. Hit big shot after big shot. Really like the motor he plays with on the defensive end pressuring the ball and creating turnovers. Ton of ball pressure and is pesky annoying the opposing guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2465620' first='Brandon' last='Otten'] (M14 Gold 15U)

Otten has been a name that has consistently been among the standouts early in the spring. The Benet 6'3” small forward was once again. Long and rangy frame that he is continuing to grow into. Elite offensive rebounder for his size with his ability to get on the glass for second chance points. A ton of his points come on put backs. Fluid in transition and is a plus defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877501' first='Malik' last='Horton'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] 15U)

Horton stood out as another Curie hard nosed guard! They just produce them year in and year out. This 5'9” guard is a tough guard that gets to the line. Finishes well through contact along with being acrobatic in the lane. Impact defender with his quickness and anticipation.

[player_tooltip player_id='2542412' first='Chase' last='Kasten'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078448' first='Illinois' last='Wolves'] 15U)

Kasten had a strong showing at Windy City War. The Normal Community wing is a plus shooter with a ton of potential. He has fluid athleticism and shot making from all around the floor. Made multiple threes in the game we saw along with banging in several in the mid-range. More than just a shooter as he showed athleticism off the bounce and in transition. Helped himself with a strong performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842576' first='Tommy' last='Hills'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078448' first='Illinois' last='Wolves'] 15U)

Hills is a new name that popped up having a big time game. The Carmel 6'3” shooting guard is a plus shooter from distance that made an array of threes, poured in mid-range turn around jumpers, and got loose in transition. Wing scorer with size to continue to track.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531962' first='Amir' last='Tucker'] (Mike Glenon Elite 16U)

It was a tough outing for his team, but this St. Ignatius point guard had a nice first half against Team Herro. Deep range on his three ball as he hit a barrage of them in a spurt early in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467517' first='Darrius' last='Hawkins'] (Team Herro 15U)

Hawkins is one of the top point guards in the 2028 class. The Homewood Flossmoor floor general is a compact lefty that has good strength. He is explosive going coast to coast in transition. Got to the rim and lane at a high clip off the bounce. Mixed in some mid-range jumpers and threes along with excellent passing. Made sound reads in the pick/roll along with crisp passes in the half court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2385372' first='Noah' last='Corro'] (Power 5 15U)

Corro is a guard from St. Laurence that elevated his stock in our eyes with his growth as a point guard. Always has been a natural scorer, but it was his distributing and ability to get others involved that made an impact. Super smooth ball handler that got to his spots all game long. He regularly won off the dribble, jumpers from two and three, and was active as a defender with his quickness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531970' first='Ben' last='Ojala'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] 15U)

The Evanston point guard is among the best floor generals in the class. Early in their game against Power 5 he was getting in the paint with his handles, but was struggling finishing bunnies. As the game went on he dished the rock well along with shooting it from distance putting on a barrage of three triples. Moves very well when playing off the ball to get open from three.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532003' first='Joey' last='Jakstys'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] 15U)

Jakstys is a plus athlete that has a high ceiling as a power forward in the 2028 class. The Yorkville big man is super bouncy being able to play above the rim. Snatched rebounds and finished through contact. Also was able to knock down spot up threes shooting it with a ton of confidence. He also impacts defensively with his shot blocking.
