Appiah got going early on few leakout dunks that got the Pioneer faithful off their seats. I've been impressed with the growth Appiah has shown as a decision maker and made a couple nice passes against the press and half-court. Strong performance for Appiah who also was aided by [player_tooltip player_id='1535701' first='Levi' last='Davis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2621329' first='Treyton' last='Schroeder'] in the back-court.

The sun who changed the game, Thomas came in and scored seven points in the second quarter fresh off the bench. A physical and athletic forward, Thomas got a couple offensive rebound putbacks and finishes at the rim. A future college football player, Thomas brings athleticism and a high motor to the court when he gets an opportunity to play.

Another multi-sport athlete, Knupp has been a steady contributor the past two seasons for the Pioneers. With some monster slam dunks and huge blocks at the rim, Knupp made his presence known in the paint. I thought Knupp did a nice job on the baseline making himself available on the block for layups and dunks.

The highlight of the game came to end the third quarter as Friery knocked down three free throws with under 2 seconds left and then knocked down a half court heave at the buzzer for an individual 6-0 run to end the quarter and give the Wildcats a huge boost of momentum. After a slow first half offensively, the duo of Friery and [player_tooltip player_id='1491439' first='Quinn' last='Woidke'] came up huge in the second half with numerous big time plays. Friery had some huge finishes at the rim with an and-1 lefty layup in transition being another crucial turning point in the game. Despite coming up short, Friery and the rest of the Wildcats showed the heart of a champion that helped them win the 2024 state title.

Jones came out the gates hot by scoring 7 first quarter points for Saint Ignatius with baskets off BLOB sets, drives and a spot-up 3-pointer. I also loved the activity of Jones, flying around the court defensively and getting his hands on a bunch of loose balls. Felt like Jones was around the basketball all game and consistently impacted the game in a positive way for Saint Ignatius.
