Another multi-sport athlete, Knupp has been a steady contributor the past two seasons for the Pioneers. With some monster slam dunks and huge blocks at the rim, Knupp made his presence known in the paint. I thought Knupp did a nice job on the baseline making himself available on the block for layups and dunks.

Olentangy Orange wasted no time taking control as Knupp scored the first four points of the game off well executed sets by the Pioneers and they were off and running to the tune of a Central district record margin of victory for a district final as 55 points separated the sides. Knupp even knocked down a 3-pointer on the wing but this match-up was so lopsided that I could’ve picked from a handful of Olentangy Orange players to feature.

Knupp had a strong performance for an Olentangy Orange squad that rotated much more than usual and got quality minutes from their bench. That allowed starters like Knupp to remain fresh and provide energy on the court. Knupp did a nice job jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense with easy outlet passes to teammates down the court. Also scoring from the dunker spot, Knupp has soft hands and quick explosiveness to throw it down at the rim when given the space to rise up at the rim. Just a solid complimentary piece who will really help a team win high school basketball games despite being committed to play baseball at the Division I level.

Knupp is a player you want on your team. He is an athletic forward who knows his role and is excellent in that role. He is a disruptor and physical defender. He is a very active player in the press that Orange runs. He is a springy athlete who explodes and dunks the ball on dump-offs. I like what Knupp brings to this squad.

Olentangy Orange has become one of the top public school athletic programs in the state of Ohio. With guys like Knupp, it’s likely they’ll have another winter and spring to remember. Knupp was named first team all-state for baseball and OCC player of the year. The Pioneers were district champions for baseball in 2024 after being state runner ups in 2023. Knupp was also a key piece to the Pioneers regional runner up on the hardwood as well.

Coming off a monster first team all state season on the diamond where Knupp is committed to Eastern Michigan, we wanted to also make sure his basketball talents are appreciated. A forward who goes all out for rebounds, loose balls and has solid athletic pop, Knupp is a valuable piece to an Olentangy Orange squad that fell one game short of reaching the state tournament. A monster performance Vs Reynoldsburg in the district finals showed us how valuable Knupp can be on the hardwood and how well rounded of an athlete he is. While most years football prospects take up the most commitments from other sports on our website, there’s a couple of big time baseball commits in Ohio’s 2025 class that can hoop as well.

The most anticipated game of the day turned into blowout city when Olentangy Orange straight up ran Reynoldsburg out the gym in the first half. With a handful of players where basketball is their second sport, Olentangy Orange plays a beautiful brand of basketball and Knupp (an Eastern Michigan baseball commit) is a key part of that. A tremendous motor on both ends of the court, Knupp grabbed some offensive rebounds he had no business coming down with. Playing with patience after catching the ball, Knupp got the Reynoldsburg block happy defense in the air a couple times to open up easy looks off the glass. An impressive athlete, a Knupp dunk in the second half was the icing on the cake for a true team effort that sees Olentangy Orange win a second consecutive district title with a mostly new look team. The bad news for the rest of Columbus? The Pioneers only start one senior and could be even better next season, a scary thought.
