It's that time of year again where we do our quarterly rankings updates, and we will start with the senior class! We've had quite a while to compile our 2025 rankings over the past four years, so we had a solid list already but that doesn't mean things haven't changed with transfers and shakeups throughout the list.

We will be doing content throughout the week on new additions, biggest risers and positional rankings. Here's a look at part three of the top point and combo guards in the senior class.

Henderson has perhaps the most impressive high school resume of anyone in the state, as he was a three time First Team All State selection, two time VHSL Class 1 Player of the Year and led Lancaster to back-to-back state championships in three years before transferring to John Marshall for his senior season. He blew up this summer on the recruitment trail, helping lead [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA'] to be one of the top AAU programs in the country, and chose to commit to Fordham in the A10 before his senior year began. Henderson is instant offense as he is slippery off the bounce and able to get to spots and create space with ease, he shoots it very well with great form and the ability to score it from multiple levels, he's a good on ball defender who can hound ball handlers into mistakes and he can make plays for others as well.

4) [player_tooltip player_id='2323685' first='DeMarco' last='Johnson'] | 6'3” CG | Oak Hill Academy (#10 Overall)

Johnson is easily one of the best available guards you'll come across on the EYSL, if not the entire country, as he's been very good for an Oak Hill team that has bounced back and become one of the premier programs in the country yet again. The 6'3” guard has qualities that will translate immediately to the next level, including his size and strength, his quickness and explosiveness and his ability to make shots both on and off the ball. He's best described as “smooth” as he doesn't get sped up and is deceptively quick as he can beat defenders and it doesn't look like he's the fastest guy out there, he has a great looking shot with the ability to knock it down well beyond the arc and he's a good defender both on the ball and in help as well.

3) [player_tooltip player_id='1494108' first='Aiden' last='Argabright'] | 6'0” PG | John Marshall (#9 Overall)

Argabright has been perhaps the most consistent guard in the Richmond area since transferring to John Marshall his junior season, and against a national schedule over the past few years he's shown he can play against some of the best in the country. The U of R commit is the type of player who has had a lot of success with them in the past, as he may not be the biggest or most athletic but he's highly skilled and crafty, and is a player who can impact the game in a number of different ways. He's very good at getting downhill without needing a million dribbles or a ball screen, he is a good finisher and draws contact a lot to get to the line, he's a dead eye shooter from deep off the catch and he's able to make plays for others as well. He plays with quiet energy and is a natural leader who makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.

2) [player_tooltip player_id='1340929' first='Austin' last='Williford'] | 6'4” CG | STAB (#8 Overall)

Williford is one of the most underrated players in the entire state or even the east coast in my opinion, as he's been vital for STAB in their two runs to the state championship the last two seasons, he's been a starter since he was a freshman and he's one of the best two way guards you'll come across in Virginia. While he plays alongside the top player on this list who is their primary ball handler and scorer, Williford showed this summer with Mallory out that he can be the go-to guy as he was one of the top scorers in the loaded DMV Live event. The 6'4” guard is an elite athlete with long arms who can play above the rim and rebounds well on both ends, he has developed into a very good shooter from deep, he is a very good on ball defender who moves his feet and challenges shots, and he's able to use his athleticism to chase down blocks as well. He's another A10 commit who will head to St. Joe's where he'll compete for early playing time, and I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up transferring higher in the next couple of years.

1) [player_tooltip player_id='1259624' first='Chance' last='Mallory'] | 5'8” PG | STAB (#2 Overall)

Mallory has been a focal point of STAB's rebuild since he was in eighth grade, and while there were initial questions about his height and size, he bought them all to bed the summer heading into his junior season when he started for the 17U Team Thrill group that won the UAA, showing his talent and catapulting him to national status. To sum up Mallory's game I'll put it the way, I have been scouting Virginia high school talent for a decade now, and he may be the most consistent and skilled guard I have come across in my time doing it. When it comes to his game he's able to score the ball from anywhere past half court, he's deceptively strong when he gets downhill and plays through contact, he plays with great toughness and is a surprisingly good rebounder despite usually being the smallest guy on the floor, he makes teammates better and he has great anticipation as a defender. He was originally committed to stay home and attend UVA before Tony Bennett's retirement, and now he's perhaps the best available guard on the east coast, and has his team looking like one of the favorites to win the VISAA D1 State Championship.
