Class of 2017 Report: Who’s Impacting the D-I Level?

Kentucky’s class of 2017 was an ultra-talented one, with 15+ of the Bluegrass’ best committing to play at the Division I level. A number of those players are having a HUGE impact for their teams almost half-way through the 2017-2018 season. Prep Hoops Kentucky gives you a review of who is helping their team have success as we class out the year.
Tavieon Hollingsworth (Paul L. Dunbar) – Western Kentucky University
The freshman guard is averaging 13.8 points per game and shooting 53% from 3-point range. Hollingsworth poured in a season high 24 points against Nicholls State. Western Kentucky has been a surprise through December, sitting at 8-5 with wins of Purdue and SMU. Western nearly knocked off Wisconsin on the road, losing by 1 point. The Hilltoppers also gave Villanova everything they wanted and more.
Peyton Broughton (North Laurel) – Eastern Kentucky University
Broughton has started a couple games for the Colonels this season, stepping in and helping EKU during an injury plagued start to the season. The London product is averaging 5.3 points per game. Broughton scroed a season high 21 points against NAIA Asbury University, shooting 7-14 from the field.
DeVon Cooper (Louisville Waggener) – Morehead State University
Cooper has started the last three games for the Eagles, averaging right at 10 points. On the year, he is averaging right at 6 per game. His season high came in an overtime win against Central Arkansas.
Terry Taylor (Bowling Green) – Austin Peay State University
Last year’s state champion is having a MONSTER year at Austin Peay. He has started every game and is averaging 15.2 an outing. He is also averaging 7.7 rebounds per game. He poured in a season high 30 points against Evansville.
Jaylon Hall (Louisville Doss) – Wright State University
Through 11 games, Hall is averaging 9.2 points per game while finding a nice role in the Raiders rotation. Hall had a season high against D-II Ohio Valley, and 11 points against Western Kentucky, Jacksonville, Toledo and 12 against D-II Tiffin.
Jake Ohmer (Scott) – Western Kentucky University
The Kentucky state tournament legend himself. Ohmer went from a University of the Cumberlands (NAIA) commit to landing a scholarship with the Hilltoppers thanks to his outstanding play in the Sweet 16 as a senior. He is currently averaging right at 10 points per game. Against Purdue, Ohmer dropped a season high 15 points in the Hilltoppers win. He also scored 12 points at Wisconsin.
