Last Sunday the PrepHoops Oregon Freshman Showcase took place at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA and many of the top in-state players and beyond from the Class of 2028 took the court to compete against one another in some very spirited competition. We had the opportunity to watch the action from start to finish, and after conferring with a number of other observers in attendance have come up with our All-Camp Teams - five members each on the First and Second Team. We start things off with the First Team and our Most Valuable Player.

Lockhart was an easy choice for the top performers first team and based on the responses we received, was the best player there and our choice for Most Valuable Player. The lefty was basically unstoppable offensively from all three levels as he knocked down deep threes, created off the dribble for pull-ups, and finished around the hoop with either hand - basically he did whatever he wanted to do. The incoming Greshman freshman also recently became the first member of the Class of 2028 to pick up a scholarship offer as he received one from the University of San Francisco. (JT)

Ratcliffe was clearly a notch above physically. He was a bully both in the paint and working off the bounce at times from further out. He worked extremely hard to get up and down, fight for extra rebounds, and establish good position and the basket. The big man also showed some surprising balance and control while playing downhill.
Read really impressed observers not only with his physical traits - his 6-foot-7 height, length, and athleticism were practically unmatched by anyone else at the showcase - but his willingness to play hard, hit the boards, and run the floor were also evident. While he likely led the event in dunks - thanks to him getting out in transition - but he also was able to produce facing the basket with his jumpshot and ability create off the dribble. (JT)

Smith was as creative and quick with the ball as anyone at the showcase. His first move was usually enough, but he had counter after counter ready to go, was quick in and out of his moves, and showed the ability to score from each level. He brought that quickness and aggression to the defensive end too, where he was able to play instinctual hoop and create turnovers. (RM)

Yue stood out as arguably the best big man in the building. The young post known as Moon was a beast down on the block with his post moves and soft touch, and his ability to get putbacks off of the offensive glass made him practically unstoppable. He didn't just live in the paint either as he'd often come out on the pick-and-pop and drain the resulting threes. The native of China, who is reclassifying to the Class of 2028, will be at The Phelps School in Pennsylvania in 2024-25. (JT)
