Florida Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Demaar Hinton (2020)
2020 Spoto guard Demaar Hinton was one of 33 underclassmen and 86 total prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo on Saturday, Sept. 30th at DME Academy in Daytona Beach.
I caught up with Hinton to talk about his time at the expo.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
A: My experience in Daytona was wonderful. I got to see what the competition in my class was really looking like and I learned a lot from the coaches.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
A: I first heard about the Prep Hoops Expo via Twitter.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
A: The best thing I learned was to be vocal. If I’m not vocal to my team as a player the communication won’t be there.
Q: What positive in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A: Something positive in my game that grew was my shot off of the screen and step back after the camp. Something negative I noticed was my ballhandling and I’ve been working in on it every day since the camp.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
A: I would definitely recommend the expo to my peers and tell them it is an awesome learning experience and definite confidence builder. The coaches really want to see you do good.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
A: My role coming into the season is to come off the bench at the guard position and hustle also to be a consistent shooter when needed.
Hinton knows what he needs to do improve his all-around game. At 6’0″, he’s no slouch on size for a younger guard. He should find his way into a meaningful role for the Spartans this fall as a sophomore.
