The 2024 Phenom Memorial Day Classic was held this weekend in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and I was in attendance to cover Saturday's slate. It is one of the most balanced tournaments in the Southeast each year with high-level Grassroots Programs in action in each division. Check out which prospects stood out from the 16U Division:

[player_tooltip player_id='2163870' first='Peden' last='Breazeale'] was one of the biggest standouts regardless of age group on Saturday at the Phenom Memorial Day Classic. Peden will get to his spots on the offensive end regardless of his matchup and has a beautiful pull-up game. Brezeale doesn't shy away from contact and balances facilitating and scoring well. He put up 12 points in a win over Carolina Raptors NXT, scoring both a game-tying jump shot in regulation and the game-winning free throw in sudden-death overtime.

Johnson is a scrappy guard who impacts winning by doing a little bit of everything for his squad. Although he is on the smaller size for a guard, his strong lower half allows him to guard wings on the defensive end without being a liability. He also chips in fearless rebounding and will jump a passing lane to get out in transition. He grabbed 8 rebounds to go with 6 points in the Saturday-morning win.

Justin is one of two of CPB's 2027s who stood out playing up in the 16U Division in Rock Hill. He is very smooth with the ball in his hands and has a great handle. Vining has a great feel for how to beat defenders and create space off the dribble, which is even more impressive considering he is a Freshman playing up an age group. Justin also has good vision, is a capable perimeter shooter, and is a strong rebounding guard.

Kensley is the other and he had more of a post presence today while manning the middle for [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure'] 2027. He has a good foundation for a young rim protector and shows good instincts around the paint and the perimeter. Parks is active on the glass as well, leading Pressure with some key boards down the stretch. Kensley is also capable of providing floor spacing, displaying a confident stroke on pick-and-pop threes and elbow jump shots.

Preston is an intriguing prospect due to his positional size and athleticism. He has a very long frame that is strong with broad shoulders. Jy'ell showed some flashes around the basket on both ends, wiping a few shots away on defense and finishing with both hands on offense. Preston will work hard on both ends at all times and had his best moments fighting for loose balls that he desired more than anyone else on the floor.

Ford is another one of [program_tooltip program_id='2412982' first='Upward' last='Stars Pee Dee'] 16U's wings that I am a fan of. Wilder could be a solid 3 & D guy at the next level with good size, lots of activity, and perimeter shot-making. While shooting is his standout attribute on the offensive end, Wilder is also good on closeouts. He has a good handle and feel for when to finish himself or dump off to an open teammate.
