Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Collins moves back to his native South Philly to continue a family legacy at Neumann after a stint out west at St. Monica (CA). An electric southpaw guard, he figures to make an immediate impact in a guard-heavy Saints lineup that will look to contend for a Catholic League title. With a blistering first step and explosive finishing ability, he’s a highlight waiting to happen offensively. But Collins may make his greatest impact on the other end, where he’s a ferocious on-ball defender with the athletic tools to make plays in passing lanes and even help out protecting the rim. The nephew of Neumann legend and former Syracuse star Scoop Jardine, Collins should be on D1 radars before long, particularly with continuous improvement as a perimeter shooter.

A name to know! Southpaw possesses a quick first step and eye popping second gear burst. Uses in and out dribbles, crossovers, shifty footwork. Nice scoring variety and touch, floaters to score over length. Athleticism finishes high above the rim. Impressive skill level and feel. He is a threat from all areas scoring both with jumpers and off the bounce. He has a great motor and gets after you on both ends of the floor. He knows how to score and has the physical and fundamental tools that allow him to be a hard to guard bucket getter! Really exciting crowd-pleasing prospect!

This lefty point guard recently announced that he is leaving Saint Monica’s Prep in California and transferring to Neumann-Goretti. I have confirmed with Collins that he will be running with Neumann-Goretti in June. I am looking forward to watching this multi-skilled prospect with an attacking style play. Collins (10.5 ppg., 4.5 rpg. & 3 apg. in 2024-25) is a scoring floor general who can produce points at every level. His scoring prowess often demands that opponents shade the help defense his way or double team Collins. In those situations, Collins will use his court vision and passing skills to deliver creative dimes to teammates. The combination of his speed and scoring / passing skill set makes Collins an open court phenom. Collins holds an offer from Cal State Bakersfield.

Making his debut back in Philly, Collins wasted no time making his presence felt with as an athletic bundle of energy off the bench for the White team. A South Philly native who’s been living in California, Collins will be back home at Neumann-Goretti this coming year and showed himself to be among the more potent downhill threats in the area. He was also a consistent hound on the defensive end looking to pester opposing ballhandlers. His aggressive mindset, blistering first step, and explosiveness at the rim made him an easy choice as a standout on Friday as he should be a welcome addition to the Saints’ lineup right away.

This lefty point guard owns an accurate three-point stroke, tight handles, and an aggressive style of play. That trifecta makes Collins a difficult match-up for opposing guards. With his excellent court vision and creative live dribble passing, Collins frequently sets up his teammates for easy buckets. Plus, Collins excels at pushing the rock in transition for scores and assists. Last season at Saint Monica’s Prep in California, Collins averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds. 3 assists and 3.5 steals per game. Collins recently announced he is transferring to Neumann-Goretti. from St. Monica is a very good athlete who excels at getting into the paint with his quick first step and is effective in transition. He is a dynamic defender and contributes significantly on the glass. While his touch around the basket is still developing, his ability to penetrate defenses and create opportunities makes him a valuable asset on both ends of the floor.
