Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Jones began to break out as a sophomore for perennial state title contender Sanford School (DE), and looks to take a jump up in both competition and role upon heading up to the Catholic League and stepping into a prominent role in the O’Hara lineup. A smooth shotmaking wing forward on a steady upward trajectory, Jones is a reliable floor-spacer with clean and consistent mechanics off the catch. He’s begun to get starting more aggressive looking to make things happen with his size around the bucket and shows natural passing instincts from a variety of spots on the floor. With upside as he blossoms athletically and potentially grows even further (with a 6’11” father who played at St. Joe’s), Jones should emerge onto scholarship radars over the course of the season.

In 2024-25 Jones was a standout at Sanford High School in Delaware and the No. 6 ranked 2027 prospect in that state. Jones recently transferred to Cardinal O’Hara and this upcoming session of Philly HS Live will be our first chance to watch him play with the Lions. I will be interested to see how he fits alongside O’Hara’s returners. Jones can hit jumpers along the baseline, in the mid-range and from beyond the arc. His speed, agility and finishing skills make Jones an open court phenom. With his length and touch around the rim, Jones presents serious match-up issues on the interior too. Jones can also blow past his man off one or two dribbles for lay-ins. We expect that Jones will be a perfect fit for Cardinal O’Hara’s up-tempo style of play.

Last season at Sanford High School in Delaware, Jones posted 5.6 points and 3 rebounds per game. He scored a season high 16 points (2 threes) and grabbed 7 rebounds in a win over Middletown. Jones was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection as well as Prep Hoops No. 6 ranked prospect in Delaware. In addition to lacing treys, Jones can hit jumpers in the mid-range as well as along the baseline. Jones is a fast and agile prospect with excellent finishing skills. Thus, he also excels in transition. Jones is an underrated distributor too. This is a nice pick up for Cardinal O’Hara as that program continues to build.

Jones emerged as a valuable support piece as an underclassman at Sanford (DE) last year but looks to be taking a big step up in role and competition while stepping into a heavier scoring load at Cardinal O’Hara in the PCL. If his performance in his debut on Monday was any indication, the emerging wing forward is more than ready. Previously more of a stationary shooter, Jones did show off his stroke from the perimeter but was impressively active using his size and instincts to work free around the rim for easy buckets. He also showed useful touch from the midrange along with nice passing feel from all over the floor. Jones should step right into the starting lineup and should begin drawing the eyes of scholarship-level coaches in this coming year.
