No. 1 New Hanover squares off with No. 5 North Mecklenburg in the NCHSAA 4 State Championship game following an exciting evening of region finals games.
New Hanover punched their ticket first in the championship in the East Region Finals, 55-53, overcoming 36 points and 12 rebounds from Paul McNeil Paul McNeil 6'6" | SG Richmond County | 2024 State #172 Nation NC .
Two free throws with 1:10 remaining in the game from Rodmik Allen Rodmik Allen 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC proved to be enough in the end as the Wildcats shook off a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to seal a victory. They outscored Richmond 17-10 in the fourth quarter. Allen led the way for New Hanover with 23 points and three assists. Zeus Batts Zeus Batts 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC and Parker Crittenden Parker Crittenden 6'3" | SG New Hanover | 2024 State NC both had nine points as well.
In the final game of the night, No. 5 North Mecklenburg and No. 2 Lake Norman needed overtime to decide a winner in the West Region finals. He filled up the stat sheet as he willed his team to victory.
